Lol. Live and learn. To properly and evenly cover that much flat hard surface this was not the correct path. Luckily I'm only out 19 bucks and change. I'm sure an experienced sprayer could do a much better job. It just looked super hillbilly.

Here's the professionally painted grill:

Attachment 129262

It had some dust on it from the shop I wiped what could off with my shirt. This is Challenger charcoal metallic with a satin finish to hopefully blind in with the fenders an bumper.

SIXJAK My first mod. This grill easy to take off?

Attachment 127845

Kind of the look I'm going for.

Just reverse the pics. Haven't started yet.

Harken. They are the same folks that make some of the running gear on the America's Cup Racing sailboats. As the saying goes, if it's good enough for Dennis Connor, it's good enough for me.

The reason it is hard to see mine is because they are the exact body color of the rest of my Wrangler. You might recognize them better on your Camaro. They are the bright green things that go from the grille to the bottom of the windshield. Other vehicles may have them on different parts of the vehicle also. Some even carry the motif through the interior.

Perhaps the confusion comes from using the vernacular term "strips." I believe most folks refer to those things as "stripes", as in racing stripes. They are akin to decals and make the vehicle go faster. I have even heard them called raisin strips by some folks.

Just having some fun. Btw, did you drive over to the dealership to see if your Camaro's new garage mate had arrived. Bet you can hardly wait for Tuesday to come. Best to keep busy, like ordering more mods from the new Quadratec catalogue.

X2. The only reason I hold on to mine is because it holds sentimental value. Other than that, they're just about impossible to work on and any time there's an issue I can't fix, it's AT LEAST a $500 trip to the shop.

BTW, when it runs, it's a shitload of fun...so it isn't fun very often.

Don't forget pics. I think poser shots are ok for at least the first few weeks after you bring ________ home. Gotta name yet?
We don't have a name yet. Geck??? The Gecko?? I call my Camaro "Cami". She is spoiled rotten. SW LT's, HFC's, ARK cat back, CAI CAI, trifecta tune, insulator, ported TB and IM, Pfadt sways-end links, rear arm package, diff bushings, BMR rear cradle full bushing kit, Hurst STS and in a few weeks, Vortech SC.

It'll be a couple of years before Geck sees the equivalent being as its going to be my wife's dd for a while.

I had to really massage her on the Rubicon package. She loves the way the Sport and Sahara ride. "The Rubicon will last longer and be a better tow vehicle"

I will definitely look into plasti dip. And yes the grill is already black. The finish reminds of a SOLO plastic plate or cup. I like the option of having the original unmolested.

The Weathertech rear cargo tray should be here any day.

We'll prolly get the mesh Bimini top. Any suggestions? Also who makes the best top caddy/storage system? Looking for a garage system where you can back Jeep in remove top and it stays suspended in the air out of the way while not in use..

ilikeguns +1 on the plasti-dip. Low cost way to see if you really like the blacked out grill.. if you don't like it.. just peel it off.. AND you've protected it in the meantime.

just an comment on the 0% financing for 3 years. If you take the cash, invest it at a MINIMUM of 1%.. $35,000 at 1% interest is $1,060 in interest (compounded)... That is new wheels that Chrysler just gave you!

Sinz Welcome SIXJAK good choice to compliment the Camaro...we have 1 thing in common...

SIXJAK Well my first "mods" are here. I know I know, not super impressive but at least the weather techs are very practical.

We've seen it. My wife absolutely flipped out when she saw it. I was hoping it would closer match the green stripes on my Camaro. I found my enthusiasm to be a little muted but seeing my wife flip out made my day so I'm good with it. Yes it is bright.

Two things I will always do when buying a car...always go to at least two dealerships and always go home. The next day I didn't call them right away. I got 3 messages and one saying they would give me more for my trade.
Gaaaaaaah now you tell me. Ha ha Sounds good. I'll try to graft some of that into what I've already got going on. I've already put a deposit down so my leverage at this point is pretty impotent at this juncture..

I'll join Tread Lightly, looks like an interesting circle of peeps. At least I'll feel like I'm getting something for my money.

That's ok, my company bought 7 Camaros from cross street rival dealer 2 years ago. We will be replacing them within 2 years. If this was his audition for that gig then I guess epic fail. They sell Mustangs and Chally's (which I like too-not a hard liner)

I'll gladly continue to deal with the Chevy dealership because they seem to get it. Their service has been amazing.

Oh well I'll go back over to the Gecko waiting room and eat some more popcorn.
