|Ibuildembig||actually you dont, the flares are the same. All you need when you remove the steps is the short filler piece that goes under the "jeep" stamping|

|snowbrd84||the problem is that they integrate with the fender flares, so if you want to take them off, you also have to buy new fenders, unless you dont care how it looks....|

|ryanmalzac1||yeah they completely suck... i just took mine off and just left the metal supports underneath.... I would suggest some nerf bars or a more solid sidestep.... those plastic things are worthless|

|snowbrd84||just be aware that you need the metal support that mounts under them and attaches to the tub, without it, they will be VERY weak and will most likely break on you.|

|YJman||Mine rotted. I stepped on them and the next thing I know, I'm not in the jeep but I'm on the ground.|

I'm assuming that you need the original molded side steps that were made of the same material as the fender flares. Those have been out of production for years. You can try here:Jeep Parts & Accessories For Less Than The Dealer
But you'll have to call them and verify that they actually have them. Other than that Ebay or the salvage yards will be your best options.

Wrangler YJ side steps
Just bought my first Jeep this week! It's a yellow 1991 Islander Wrangler YJ.
Only thing is... it's missing the side steps. Does anyone know where I can go to replace them. Are they being reproduced? OEM?
I've owned classic cars before and used restoration catalogs to find replacement parts. Are there any companies making restoration parts for Jeeps(YJ)???
