Lots of cars are damaged in shipping, its a pretty common thing. The more you pay a trucker the more likely it is to get there in one piece. If you dont pay much only a very low class of trucker will end up hauling it!
plus youre looking at around $1 a mile or so.
That said, i thought about shipping a motorcycle to europe. Freakin ridiculous rates! And cant drive to europe either!

Some Englishmen did it in Land Rovers recently.

|somis||My dad brother and grandpa did this ( I was too young ) They did it on KTM 640's. Shipped the bikes to Colorado. Flew there. Rode back to California. They talk about it all the time. Aparently it could be done in a Jeep, minus a few technical sections, but they could be bypassed. I plan on doing this in my lifetime.|

|CiDZillA||That sounds pretty awesome. Does make me wonder if it really can be done in a Jeep.|

|BrianH||Another one adding it to their bucket list. Researching doing it as a father son trip either late this year or early next year. I'd previously been planning to do it on a motorcycle, but it seems like a great opportunity for a father son trip.|

|Pirateover50||I've got a couple of the maps, from Jellico, Tn thru 4 other states. Seems like I ask Sam about doing it all in a Jeep and he said you couldn't go the full trail in a Jeep. This is still on my bucket list.|

|prairedogg||I would love to do this.|

|JPetru82||It is made for motorbikes, but jeeps can do it. I've be emailed back and forth with him about this. Really want to try it sometime. A thing to remember, his maps are east-west and designed to be ran that way. I really want to ship my TJ back east, and take the trail all the way home to California. Maybe someday...|

Trans-American Trail (TAT) in a Jeep?
Anyone ever done the TAT (TransAmTrail.com) in a Jeep? Recently?
I'm seriously considering getting the maps from Sam and planning out sections over the next few years to do. From some of the ride reports (best one by far is The Mobius Trip - ADVrider) just make it looks like an absolute blast. Sure, it's not your an uber rock crawling adventure. But still looks like it would be a lot of fun. And some sections look like they even might be challenging in a modified JK.
I've been searching ExpeditionPortal a bit and will be doing more searching. It's been challenging trying to search for it... "TAT" returns a lot about tattoos, and "trans" seems to make every search hit on any thread about a transmission...
Anyone wanna ride it with me?
