Alter the geometry of anything and it becomes different than intended, however, when lifts are installed correctly and the suspension/steering geometry is all corrected to account for the change then it will drive like stock or better.

The lifts were probably installed correctly, but thats where the dealers "dropped the ball"-
As Kj says, as soon as you lift a jeep, 99% of the time the caster is reduced to ubsafe levels and the "toe-in" hasn't been reset--alignment time to see the readings-

But you really don't need them for a 2.5" lift. It'll wander a little, but not bad.

Stock caster is less to be desired anyways. If you are not used to driving a jeep. It can be scary.
Lifting it without addressing caster will cause that wandering feeling, worse than stock.
Look for aftermarket control arms

seven - Yes, that is exaclty what the steering was like in both 2012 Jeeps we drove. We would turn a little to the left or right ( about an inch ), then the steering would "catch" - then it seemed like we oversteered and had to turn the wheel back the other way - then slop again , etc.
With the slop it had, we just had to keep going to the right and left almost the whole time driving.

Jeez - As you know this was my post and as I said, both vehicles were very hard to keep in between the lines. My wife and I could not believe the difference between the stock and lifted ones. We really love the way the Jeeps look lifted but there was no way we could get "use to" the way they drove.
We really want to lift it and with reading all the posts on here, it sounds like the lifts that were in the vehicles we drove were either installed wrong or another problem with the type of lift? All I can say is we went to 2 different dealers that had 2 different lifts installed and the drove the same way.
I hope I can find someone with a teraflex lift, that would leave us test drive it.

takes a bit to get used to like mentioned, but the steering should still be tight. There are points in the steering that need to be checked often. One of which is the pitman arm. Sometimes they'll shimmy up the splines a little and cause the pitman arm to rock back and forth. If it does that (and its pretty common) then the steering will feel like crap and you'll have an inch in either direction before the steering wheel even does anything.
Have to add a washer and re-torque the pitman arm and its good as new...
I wonder if the dealers know these types of things with lifted rigs???

|cmg427||It may take a little getting use to. Not sure what your use to driving. Completely different vehicle but when I bought my 08 Ford Econoline work van I was scared for my life on the ride home, now I can drive it like any other car.|

Only if it's improperly installed.
There's no benefit to getting a lift installed by the dealer. Do it aftermarket.

Is this true...
My wife and I wanted to purchase the lifted ones from the dealership but when we took them for a test drive, we could hardly keep the vehicle on the road. The steering felt like it wandered ( or play in the steering ). We actually went to 2 different dealers - one had the Mopar lift and the other had Rock Crawler suspension in. Both of them were horrible for steering.
I am getting the same setup consisting of either a Mopar or AEV 2.5 w/ 33's and now concerned...sorry for being a pain in the ars
