CJ-John Do you have a name of a shipper you have used. I got some quotes at around $1000. which isn't bad but I was seeing the trip as an adventure of sorts. I'm open for any recommended shippers? any one?

Ibuildembig Have you checked into having it hauled? You might be surprised. I have shipped alot of jeeps from here to texas for 400 bucks.

CJ-John I plan to take at least one 5 gallon can, change plugs, wires, cap and rotor. change all fluids, air filter, maybe pull front driveshaft. check brakes pack front wheel bearings, and I have a follow vehicle a day or so behind me.

Dempsey My CJ gets 11-12 mpg driving 60 (Built 304, T5, 4.10's, 33" tires). Although they are different I bet the differences between tire size, gearing, engine mods will all shake out to a similar mileage.

You should have around a 15 gallon tank. I run out around 12 gallons in my '76 though. Not that I know.....

I'm running synthetic oil in my engine but I don't know if its worth it. I also run 20w50 oil.

Does your gas gauge work?

I would invest in a 5 gallon jerry can to take with ya. Also might check your points/coil before the trip.

CJ7 Highway mileage?

Ok, I'm still trying to plan how to get my CJ from Colorado to NY. It's a bone stock 1979 v8 4 speed 3.54 gears (I think?) Hard top What king of mileage can I expect? 12? highway? any chance I'd be up near 18? I'll only be running 60 or so tops I think. What speed might be optimal? It will have new tires maybe 30-9.50-15 haven't bought them yet, more likely 31's I also will change all the fluids to synthetics before if it will be worth it. also how big is the stock tank? what are your thought's
