|Zombiekiller||So Thursday some of my friends drove up from home to help me change my bearing. It was... interesting... to say the least. Surprisingly we had no big setbacks, and didn't really break any bolts. the 36mm bolt attached to the axle shaft was hard, but we used the handle on the lift as a breaker bar and that made life easy. The hacksaw unfortunately took too long so I am back on the drawing board trying to find a sawzall I can borrow. I have an idea of getting one, but I am not sure how well it is going to work. I have to have it chopped, and fixed before May 6th so i can drive home without the rattle. This the one of the pics of the bearing! I have a comparison one somewhere but I forget what I did with it...|

So update: the weather has changed so I am going to do my Bearings this week. I got a 36mm bolt from home already, as well as a floor jack so I think I am ready to go!
I also bought some parts to fix my muffler in the meantime. I got 2 bolt on hangers, two adapters, 4 bolt clips, and a flexible pipe tube. I just need something to get me home so I can either buy new parts or weld it all together.
I am still looking at gears and shops

So update, it snowed on the day we planned to do the bearing change so I have not managed to get that done yet. Other than that, school has just gotten in the way. After Easter break I should have more time since I will be done with some prior obligations so I have plans to do it then.
As far as the axle hunting goes, I have not found anything worth buying/trading for so it looks like I will be going to a junk yard in early may. If I find an axle with 4.10s then I will swap it right in and change the gears when funds permit. If I do not find an axle with 4.10s then I will wait to swap it in and re-gear it first.
I have a job already lined up for summer so if I secure that then I will be well on my way.
Other small projects include re-enforcing the spare tire carrier and moving stuff around so 35s fit, building an overhead mount for my CB, and possibly tube fenders. I found a DIY kit that includes pre-bent tubes for all 4 fenders for $300 so I will probably be taking that route.
I still have a lot to do before I can start building and swapping but May will be here before I know it!

So update: I drove my Jeep 4 hours to the mountains for school, and it surprisingly had no issues. when I got here however, my muffler began rattling and I think it is coming from the inside. Due to a lack of tools I took it to a mechanic to get the problem fixed and he told me that he does not fix mufflers so I would have to take it elsewhere for that. He also noted my rear U-bolts were loose and my front bearings were bad. He showed me what he was talking about, but I refuse to pay a mechanic to do anything I can do myself so I ordered bearings, and U-bolts and I am going to have to find a way to get that done using the resources I have.
To make things worse, as I was leaving the mechanic my sputtering and bogging down problem returned to haunt me so now I have to deal with that. I am considering the thought that it may be a clogged Cat so I am going to replace that along with the muffler. My plan is to use a hacksaw and chop the muffler and cat, and use claps to put the new ones on until I can get home and weld it in.
I will get some pics up soon. I just got the bearings yesterday and U-bolts should be here today

|yjJEEPyj||I personally had one of those benders. Didn't work for me one time. Even packed the tube with sand and heated it. Worked like garbage for me. Bought a jd2 bender. Never kinked a tube again|

|Zombiekiller||Yeah, I was back in forth with selling it, engine swap, or just regear. found this axle and decided to just go with the regear. also on my list of things to do is install a small BL 1-1.25" maximum, and maybe go to 35s. not sure yet though. and I want to build an overhead CB mount. that should be fairly straight forward.|

|Zombiekiller||Heard back today! Moving forward with that, I'll be getting it In March. Can't remember if I said it had a spool or not, but it does, so that will have to go. I'm told I can just swap in spider gears from another 8.8 though so I am just just going to do that.|

|Zombiekiller||Waiting on a response from the guy with the 8.8. once I hear back from him in confirmation my dad is going to pick up the axle, and I am going to order my front Ring and Pinion. Next I am going to order the adapter flange, and then the 8.8 shock mounts, and spring mounts. my goal is to have it all back by the time I get home from college so I can jump right into it and get it all in within the first 2 weeks|

So I was planning on selling my Jeep in order to have a more capable ride to get to college, but I decided against it and instead I am just going to make mine better for highway driving. AKA regear! I found an 8.8 Trussed with a spool and 4.88s already installed for $250. While the spool will have to go, for that price you can't buy a trussed 8.8 for that price, much less one that is re-geared so I am going to take that route. So an 8.8 install is in my near future, and then a front regear to 4.88s. for the spool I will probably just go take spider gears out of an 8.8 in a junk yard and just use those.
other projects on the list are to reinforce my tire carrier, put a latch on instead of the pins, and put a better hinge on.
I am at college right now, but I am still going to start gathering the pieces for this summer!

|Zombiekiller||new updates, ill get pics soon, i forget if i said it or not but i put rock lights under it, and i installed the HIDs, they are bright! and the Halos are awesome. i also got my single row bar from Illuminationleds.com and mounted that on a homemade mount and its bright! im going wheeling tonight to play with all my new toys, when i get back ill upload pics of all the lights! still 8.8 hunting but im not having much luck at all|
