|TJRubi||Just did 150 miles down and 150 back on the interstate (doing a dog rescue transfer) overall average was 18 mpg running 73mph. 4.0 auto 5500+ foot altitude (we lose about 15% power) and stock 16" wheels 265 70 tires at 35psi--FWIW.|

|The Tonk||Last tank was 268 miles and filled up 17 gallons. That's 15.76mpg on 35x12.5 and a 6" lift. Time for a tune up maybe?|

|ednayn||1997, 2.5L, 5 speed, 235 75/R15's. All stock, although I think the stock tires were 215's. Had it a month and am consistently clocking 19 mpg. As low as 18 if I drive hard and up to 20 if I drive easy. Happy|

|baldbilly||Thanks everyone! I appreciate your responses. I have oversized tires (not sure how big - I will check) so that's probably affecting it. I will start following close behind big rigs on the highway to save fuel!|

|tk9805||I have 31's with no lift and get around 17-18mpg, but I get to use cruise a lot because my drive to work is 90% highway driving. I would love to put a 2" lift on, but I'm just worried about how far that would cut into my mileage. Still thinking about it though, but I'd have to put bigger tires on too. One thing leads to another...|

|BLK00TJ||I'm getting 18-19 on my '00 with 4.25" lift and 33s. I realize that I don't have a race car so I drive like an old fart and block traffic.|

All octane does is prevent detonation (preignition of fuel before the spark plug fires) in higher compression engines. The 4.0, 2.5, and 2.4 are NOT meant to use 91 octane. It can actually hurt performance by delaying ignition.
Use 87 octane all day, everyday!

Thats about 13 mpg...not good but nothing alarming either deppending on your setup. What size tires do you have? How many miles? 4 or 6 cylinder?
For what its worth i usually get between 16 and 17.5 mpg with my 06 6 cylinder 64,000 miles driven mostly on the highway.

|Superkill||2005 tj x no lift no tires, 87 octane I get about 200miles per tank. 91 octane about 210 miles per tank lol|

As of last week I am the proud owner of my first-ever Jeep! 2005 TJ. I absolutely love it
However, the gas mileage is a bit of a shock I'm getting about 320kms (200 miles) for a full tank. That's roughly 57 litres or 15 gallons of gas.
Is this normal?
