moscoeb Sorry to necro a thread

We are visiting this week. Where is the best place to have a chance to see the horses?

HAFICON It was my first time driving on the beach. Man what a blast but was fun to get out on the side trails and play. but I would rather go into the mountains any day..

PelagicBiped That looks like a blast. My buddy lives up that way, and he wants me to come up specifically for this. Also for a park called Uwharrie? Great pics!

HAFICON No you don’t have to have a permit it is open to anyone, just obey the speed there are beach cops.

Yes I dropped my tire pressure, but it is personal preference. I am not sure it made a difference but it didn’t hurt.

I never dropped my pressure any of the 3 times I went down there and were able to drive all along the beach and through the dunes that go into Corova. However the dunes are pretty soft so we had to use a lot of moment to make it over them at full pressure. If I went again I would probably drop pressure just for peace of mind.

Jwood621 Very cool. Do you need a permit to drive on the beach in Corolla or is that just around Hatteras?

Mr. E I made a few of those trips when I last year while I was stationed out there. Once in my wife's Liberty and twice in my Jeep. The wild horses are worth the drive.

06May2012 Corolla Beach Run

Went out this weekend with 19 other Wranglers to Corolla beach in N.C. had a great time some braver than me to go play in the salt water but everyone had fun. Here are a few pictures and a very shaky video.. My wife had a hard time holding the camera at times.

A very brave JK.

Me and my son,

Lunch time.

On the way back in.

Here is a 5ish minute video. In the beginning that is a brand new 4 door Rubicon without the top on hitting the salt water..........wow.......
