Great thread... Although I have an 07 Sahara I just removed my glove box and behold... a lot of papers from previous owner sucked up against the inside air intake screen... No wonder my recirculation air was not working correctly!!!
Thanks for the advice... Now to find a way to get filters in...

My 2010 had the cage for the filters, but no filters..
Added to my list for next weekend..

|oldsysops||yep. the pics are same as mine except my 08 does not have noticeable latches to remove old filters.|

The filters are below and behind that door, and are always filtering whether the door is up or down.

|Zedr2||Gotcha, I think but the 'climate control' option does make sense ..|

Important..... I was unclear in the info above. Just to clarify, all JK's, 2011 and newer have the cradle for the in cabin air filter cartridges. Not all JK's.

|MOABLTY||Sweet write up, was wondering about this a long time now. And the video and all. You people are great. Now I have to go check behind the glove box. Who knows what I'll find there...|
|12-06-2013 08:10 AM|
Paul, not all JK's come with the 2 cabin air filter cartridges themselves. YES, all JK's have the side by side cradle for the 2 cabin air filters but most JK's come without the 2 cartridge filters. Only JK's with the optional Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) system have the 2 cartridge air filters installed at the factory.
Also, unless I'm just not understanding what you are saying, I believe, the cabin air filters / 2 in the side by side carrier do filter allowed (when you are not using recirc) incoming air all the time as all incoming air passes through the cradle.

Pull the glove box out and look at the the drum and you will see the filters up there, then start it and press the button and when the green light comes on you will see the drum roll down ...
|12-05-2013 06:10 PM|
Nope, a no can do with a single filter. Take a look see at the carrier and access to it and you will understand why.
|12-05-2013 05:41 PM|
Why two separate filters? Couldn't I just get one filter (correct size) which covers that whole area? Or are there two separate slots for the filters to lay in? Or is there no such one piece filter made...?
Great Post I'll be placing an order for filters ASAP since my '12 JK Rubi didn't come with filters at all.........

|pvf||So, If I opt for the standard climate control (I prefer dials) will I be able to just drop in a filter or do I need to get automatic climate control just to have the ability to drop in a filter?|

Checked the area behind the air damper and found no filters in my '11 Sport S (produced in Feb '11).
Checked the local autoparts stores.... The prices varied $20 for the chinese filters to $50 at the dealer for OEM. The dealership had them, but ALL of the autoparts stores said that they were a special order item (5-7 days out). O"Reillys wanted $24.99 plus tax plus shipping for a total of $38.
Went online to RockAuto; they had them for $17.00 plus $5 shipping.
Ordered a set of (2) Wix 24302 for the above price.
