In Alabama, you must be at least 14 years old to apply for a motorcycle license with an "M Class" designation. For 14 and 15 year olds, this license carries a "B" restriction for use on a motor-driven cycle. When you turn 16, the "B" restriction will be removed when you return to the driver's license office.

To apply for your motorcycle license, you'll need to take a written exam. Study the Alabama Motorcycle Manual to learn rules of the road, Alabama laws, traffic signs, and practical tips on driving a motorcycle. When you are ready, go to your local driver's license office with the following documents:

* Certified U.S. birth certificate.

* Social Security card.

* Another form of identification, which can include your valid driver's license, marriage license, military ID, school photo ID, school enrollment form, or a Veterans Administration card.

* School enrollment form or proof of graduation if you are 14 or 15 years old. You can get a copy of the enrollment/exclusion form online to have it completed beforehand.

* $5 testing fee and $23 license fee. No checks are accepted.

If you obtained your Alabama driver's license before 1990 and have kept it since that time, you already have a motorcycle license. Look on your license. In the top right corner, there should be a "D" next to "Class." If you also have an "M," you are already licensed to drive a motorcycle.

This is straight off the DMV websight so you may be correct however (See Bold Print) it used to not be that way.

Like I've stopped buying DVDs and I just rent the one's I really want to watch from amazon.com.

I spend some time on the FJ cruiser forums and they have it worse because they have to put premium in their tanks.So alot of them have cut their cable,their internet services,walking to work,mass transit (buses and trains),bringing their lunches,stop smoking.Really interesting what they are giving up but they refuse to give up their trucks.

We Wrangler owners have it rough but not as bad as them with Premium gas.

Gas for me today was $4.23 Mobile but I don't let my tank get past half so it doesn't hurt so much to fill up.
It will be $4.29 by tomorrow....pretty sure

man thats insane.. when the fj came out I looked at the sticker mpg and it said 19mpg freeway.. I told myself I would never buy this POS because of mpg.. turns out a year later I bought a jeep that gets 13 mpg.

I drove to the cheapest gas statation today and paid 4.33, the average gas here is 4.45

Warpman89 I say bite the bullet and enjoy jeeps now while gas is still cheap! it isn't going to get any cheaper soon and in a few years who knows what you could be paying. it is scary to think it but someday we may be saying that 4 dollars to the gallon was cheap!

Besides, jeeps are too much fun!

i know i'll have a rough winter with out it but half of my check goes in gas back when i used to go to college. I dont spend any other money for now other than on gas and mods. As my driving habits, i drive it pretty nicely so i cant really improve there.

as the fj goes.. my mom has an fj and although its needs premium, it gets some good mpg. My dad fills up 13-14 gallons and goes well over 300 miles each time.

I would rather fill up 13 gallons of premium and get easily over 300 miles a tank then fill up 16 gallons of regular and get 240 highway.

Ripcord Trip here in Bama if you have a Drivers License then you can drive a bike. Unless you are under the age of 16 then you can actually get your biker license at 15 and it was just a written test at the DMV

Triple88a if we can get the hydrogen cells to work I will keep my jeep too however the way things are going i feel that i'll be going his route too because i put gas in it however cannot have fun since there is really no place near to offroad. No place for another vehicle either so my jeep is the DD.

any one knows what i need to do to get a motorcycle license? school???

Thinking of selling the jeep

I am about to decide to sell my jeep. The price of gas is just too much and I don't have time to enjoy it the way I used to. I have a 98 Jeep Wrangler, 4 banger, hard and soft top, 5 speed and new Goodyear wrangler tires. I has 97,000 miles on it. What is a good starting price? I am thinking of $7995. I live in Jackson, Tn. Either reply to this tread or email me at markgoff@bellsouth.net.
