The Korean The smittybilt one is nice and cheap, but

-it can't be used with the soft top
-seems like the material would be too thin or not enough to hold up to a larger dog

With those two things in mind, I went with the safaristraps cargo system as well as the pet center divider. I have an 80 lb boxer who is all muscle and it holds him in quite well. Yes they're a pricy system (I think I spent around $500 for everything), but definitely well worth it and if I had to do it all over again I'd buy it again without hesitating. Trust me you won't be disappointed with the safaristraps netting. Oh and if you do have a smaller dog and are worried about the size of the holes, you can call them up and they will modify it. With my boxer though the hole size is perfect. He loves hanging out in the back and sticks his head out one of the holes when we come to a stop (the first picture is the hole he tends to use all the time at stop lights haha). People laugh and smile all the time. Oh and last but not least, you'll probably get a lot of questions when driving around so be prepared, haha.

bflank That's why we paired our CRES with a Safari Straps pet divider. Now the dogs happily stay put in the back.

That's what we use. So far though, our dog hasn't been tempted to jump. She normally lays down in the back seat. When we stop she wants up front with us. When we take off, she wants back in the back again.

CleverDrake I took the back seat out yesterday and actually got some more accurate measurements in the back. The travel crates will fit fine.

I am not worried about the top being down. The wife already KO'd that with the dogs in the back. She doesn't want them being tempted at all, which I don't mind.

I might get a cargo net to go over the crates though as a shelf. Still working out those details.

Robin in VA Those cargo nets are kinda expensive, so maybe for the time being you could rig up a harness to keep em safe. Mine rode in harnesses to and from the beach w/no problems.
I made a nice harness & leash rig, but this thread has a lot of good information in it.

Chrispy Check out the products from really good product and you can use it with your soft top up or down.

Got dogs, need ideas

I currently have two dogs and I would love to have them secured in the back. I was thinking of two ways to do this. First would be to attach each dog to a small leash and then to the brackets where the back seat attaches. The second would be two travel crates side by side. See Here. I don't think there is enough room for two crates as the wheel well might not allow it.

The other problem I have is our stuff. If the dogs are in the back it doesn't leave much room for bags / computers / etc. I found luggage racks for the back area for sale which I think would work great. Something like this.

So, I am just looking for some other ideas that others have done.

Thank you.
