|flyboy367||I went with the rough country n2o 4"kit and the upgrade tierod kit. I have no complaints. The ride is smooth and even. Finished it off with some 33" duratracks. The instruction's were strait forward and i had a question about some stuff left from the prev owner and they stayed on the phone while i was working on it|

|DevilDogDoc||Currie 4 inch is what I went to from a Tera 3 inch, double adjustable uppers and lowers with Savvy rear uppers. Still need the parts to finish my front uppers I have the Savvy arms but need the JJ's to finish them. Night and day difference from the Tera, not that the Tera was bad but the JJ's changed the ride completely nice tight ride.|

My Currie lift
Hey all, so this topic has been beat to death on various forums, but at the same time, it's understandable why people are asking since a lift kit isn't cheap, and if either the parts or the install is poor, then you are out time and money, and of course your jeep while all of it gets straightened out.
Having said that, I went with the Currie 4-inch short arm lift. I love it! It handles and drives better than my 2-Door JK Rubicon and soaks up bumps without shaking me around. The springs are solid, not too stiff, and not too soft. The only thing I would have done in hindsight would be to purchase the dual adjustable control arms, but that's not a big deal.
I installed the whole thing myself and I had never installed a lift kit or worked on a Jeep prior. It was a little intimidating at first, but once you see the parts and follow the directions, it worked out just fine. Installing it myself did save some money though. All of the parts are bolt on, no welding, and no fabrication. You do have to drill out some holes in your axle, but again no fabrication. So, if you have a competent shop install it, or have it done by a shop that knows how to read/follow instructions, it should not be a big deal. All of the JJ are serviceable, so that cost will be less than replacing junk in one year.
I did look at Clayton and Savvy, but in the end I chose Currie.

I know i have to do some thinking on what size lift to get and what size tires, based on the kinda roading i wanna do, but this right here will help me narrow down what brands to look into when i decide on the kind of setup i want.

Big difference between 31s and 33s.
31" tires 2" lift and you are good to go
33" tires 3" min lift -tire carrier -Possibly SYE -Regear - Flares-etc

Currie, Clayton and a very few other manufacturers get nothing but great reviews. Most lifts that you will find at big retailers like quadratec will have received mixed reviews.
My rubicon express 3.5 superflex has been great so far, but it has the newer redesigned rubber bushings. The older ones were known to be failure prone.
Skyjacker is known to have sagging springs and poor shocks.
Rough country is not known for durability and poor ride quality.
Zone seems to get consistently good reviews and at a great price.
Bds isn't run by many people but they have a great warranty, I had a front track bar that i needed help with and their customer service was excellent.
The only person I know who runs full traction swears by it and they make a fully bolt on long arm.
Teraflex is on par with rubicon express and full traction but more expensive than currie.
Ome is highly praised, I had a set of springs and they were great but a little soft for my liking.
I think that covers most of what I've learned along the way.
Keep in mind that most lifts are not complete and will require additional parts like shocks, track bars, bump stop extensions etc. to be run properly.

The high end side of lifts and that have gotten great reviews are
Rock Krawler 3.5" lift
Currie 4" lift
I'm going with one of those two... just need a few more ducketts in the Jeep funds account. Oh and I too thought about doing the budget boost to get me by for now, but figured I'll just wait and save the money/time as well as learn to wheel without a lift first.
EDIT: Oh and OME is a really nice kit as well.

I'm debating for tire size. I'm torn between 31's or 33's.
As for the type of wheeling rocks, mud, snow, pavement.
I'm not really interested as to figuring out what type of lift to get, rather the quality of the manufacturers of the lifts that are out there.
Ive been looking and reading a lot about different lifts and one thing seems to be common. Totally different reviews for similar lifts. Some bashing the manufactures for a sub par product and another review praising it.
I didn't know if my other fellow jeepers out there had a general consensus of some manufacturers to stay away from due to low quality products.

With your TJ being a 98 I would think that a fresh coil spring lift will tighten up your jeeps ride.
What kind of wheeling will you be doing ?
What size tires are you wanting to run ?
I am a BDS guy , 2" with a 1" body lift running 33" BFG All terrains.
Great for my type of wheeling ... some rocks ,snow, sand ,dirt roads, and lots of pavement.

Depends on if you just want a lift or you want a suspension system. If you just want a lift get the 2in BB and some new shocks and be done with it. If you want a quality suspension system you will need to spend more than a grand. This is the one I am probably going to get next month (Old Man Emu Ultimate TJ/LJ Wrangler Kit | dpgoffroad.com), and this doesn't even come with control arms.
My advise is to spend some time on here reading about all that goes into a complete suspension system. Then decide how far you want to go with it. I have been researching for months figuring out what I want to do.

|rda616||It's an age old question here. Some say they went cheap because they don't offroad much, but the fact of the matter is a good lift will perform just as good on the road as it will off. The best kit out there would be the savvy/currie 3, or 4 inch kit. A currie 4 incn would be my second choice. And OME with Rokmen control arms and currie track bars would be third choice.|

|EMSRubi||Stay the hell away from black diamond lifts. Usually any other suspension lift is up for debate, pros and cons to every lift kit so you have to pick and choose your battles. I went with rough country 3.25" it came with crappy shocks so I'm replacing them with bilsteins.|

I recommend the Zone 3" lift. Great ride on the street. I have their 4.25"combo. 3"suspension, 1.25"body lift and 1" motor mount lift.
Depends on your budget though. I went cheap because I'll hardly ever go wheeling. my searches all ended with stay away from rancho and pro comp. No personal experience with either on coil spring lifts though

What Lifts to Get and What lifts To Avoid
Hey guys, ive been looking around a lot on getting a lift for my TJ. However the one thing i keep running into is there seem to be a lot of mixed receptions on them.
Weak Springs, Stiff springs, Crappy components, you get my drift.
I don't want to spend money on a lift ill regret getting so I want to know if anybody knows what brands on lifts to stay away from and what ones are recommended.
Im not sure if i want to do a 2 inch budget lift or just go all out and go for 4 inches.
I appreciate any help.
