I did it more to keep leaves and seeds off the radiator as I drive around my farm.

I had a spare rad from another truck and only a couple miles from home. I was able to get it home before it got too hot. Lucked out.

1monday there are a few stories of this on this forum, I figured that's what started the whole need for some kind of mesh behind the grill...maybe i am just being paranoid...you probably would hear of that more often if it happened

Espo78 IMO the effects of the mirror flip can be accomplished by pushing the mirror UP on its ball hinge. It's moveable for a reason.

Pmryall ^^^ the mirror flip is my favorite so far, combined with removing the rear headrests my view is much much better now.

Daisy Stormtrooper This morning I felt like I finished a marathon: Thursday night I started on page 1 of this thread, and yes, read every single post. Awesome stuff.

Mods pre-thread: stubby antenna added, custom mountain decals on hood, removed "Wrangler Sport" decals, added LEDs in overhead light.

Mods mid-thread: mirror flip , and white Plastidip on a/c vent rings. I didn't care for the texture of the Plastidip, but am trying the black on my wheels later, so I DO like the ease of removal. In addition to the vents, I also removed the accent "thing" on the doors, the "oh sh!t" handle insert and the speakers in the bar to be painted with Rustoleum Appliance Epoxy in white. Primer first, then the white epoxy (which is heat and moisture resistant--painted all the hi-hats in my house with it.) Has a smooth finish and high-gloss coat.

Post-thread mods planned/in progress: Plastidip wheels in black, already bought the black gutter mesh, zip ties and mounts for the grill insert, and am going to stuff the speaker area. LED lights on the floor, kickstand footrest, drilled mirror and "trunk" cover.

tl;dr entire thread: paint your muffler with high-heat BBQ grill paint, (no you don't need to remove it); flipping your rearview mirror is awesome for some, difficult or unpleasant for few; grill inserts can be accomplish with less than $30 at Home Depot; most folks on here are crazy talented and/or have significant others with wicked skills.

Thanks everyone!

I crusied around with my back doors on for a while as well since my son is still in a carseat it made my wife feel much safer but I hadn't really seen others do the same. As long as I am not the only one, haha.

I don't learn from my mistakes that is why I can't afford that extra YJ

and you have a willys wheeler now too. I love those!

Navy is the darker blue right? I had the light blue with the grey interior soft top and half doors. I went the other way and blacked out everything instead of chrome. I should have bought a hard top when I went to college instead of a truck

I did like in '92 when they changed to the newer style roll bars but that was the only thing I wanted to change on mine.

What top and doors did you have?

I would have gone more for the old ram head brake lights as an example that use to be on the dodge pickups I remember listening to this same type of argument when those were popular.

One can sue anyone for anything in this great nation, but having a painted third brake light is far more likely to work as a defense ("I wouldn't have hit him if I'd have seen the third brake light") than a cause of action ("He caused the wreck with his painted third brake light, and I'm entitled to compensation"). In fact, that's a loser right from the start, for lots of reasons. Someone may sue, but they won't win.
Clearly you are a great lawyer. Since I am not a lawyer I think what I bolded kind of makes my case that it is something not to mess with, but what do I know. If you want to pout about it fine. I would not have a problem if you took yours off completely because your state does not require it what does it matter to me. I would not and I expressed my opinion on why I would not. The fact that it was a legal requirement to have one never entered my mind.
I am here to have a good time I won't bring it up any more I just thought I would share that I would be concerned that some A-hole out there might go after this guy if something stupid were to happen, even if it had nothing to do with the theoretical accident we are talking about. Law completely on your side or not if you get to court and a sympathetic jury I just thought there was a chance he could possibly run in to problems in the future.

Have a good evening.

idk, I thought of that too...the peanut gallery will say that just because they sell it, doesn't make it right/legal...and it still opens you up for being sued...but so does walking down the street crooked. I don't understand what the big deal is
