95heepyj Thanks tim, I think that helps, at the moment I am collecting the parts I need to get the top all fixed up for winter, the soft top i have is worthless and the soft upper doors are the wrong ones so they dont seal, so i picked up full doors and now I am saving up for the top itself

huntertim214 hardtop just screws on to the windshield frame, through the top part of the channel and into the top itself. Then there are the OEM bolts that go through the rail on the sides, below the side windows (the channels for my summer tonneu cover use the same hardware here .

AKohler883 wait, horizontals are "separate" from the rest of the roll bar ? I thought it was one welded assembly.

I have a better idea .... fix the leak in your soft top (might need a New soft top) ... and turn up the radio louder :-)

Jeeps are allowed to be noisy. Otherwise we would have bought cars ;-)

Soft top issues! hardtop ?tions

So Bought this 95 yj, and I found some jerry rigging, and I want to fix it! this is how it started... I ordered a VDP soundbar for my jeep, when I went to install it I noticed my rollbar horizontals were missing. WTF. ok no big deal, so I go to the junk yard and buy a pair, I went to install them, another WTF moment... I have the wrong windshield, it is too old to have the rollbar horizontals mounted to it! Now to my major question, what do I need to mount a hardtop, if I just buy a hardtop off of Craigslist? how does it mount to the windshield? Yes I will be replacing my windshield and re-installing the rollbar horizontals. my issue with my soft top is that it leaks, my cd player gets wet and stops working until dry. another issue is how loud it is on the freeway and I cant hear my cd player, what do I need for a hardtop? just seals and bolts? I have no idea how a hardtop mounts to the windshield on a yj!?
