Daniel_M If you want absolutely no trimming, then go with the 6" but do it right. Also skip the 38's and go 40's.

damndirtydog A quick story for you Whitnall26. Last month at JeepBeach. A girl in a moderatly modified TJ Rubicon....35" tires 4-6" lift, smokes the rock garden, made it look like a beer run to the mini-mart.
Next up a guy in a 2012 Call of Duty, 38 maybe 40 inch tires, the most bad ass suspension money could buy, actually i think the only thing stock on the entire vehicle was the call of duty sticker. Anyhoo, doesn't even make it 1/3 of the way through the rock garden and snaps his rear drive shaft and had to be pulled off the rocks with a front end loader.
Moral of the story....everything in moderation.

pluke the 2 Sir I recommend Teraflex 6" Long Arm without shocks. Poly Performance 14" Coilovers and I recommend 20" wheels. With that installed, parts, and labor you're looking at 10-15K

XJ Knight Make friends with a pro rock D80 rear and pro rock D60 front.. Some inspiration for lift not so much of a inspiration on what you should do about axles. http://www.wranglerforum.com/f33/gec...ft-156650.html

18's is a great choice for 38's. Do note he is at 6in and 40's plus flat fenders so I think 4in of lift and flat fenders if they interest you would be the right call for 38's

Fortunatly, I'm able to be running my stockers so all I can give you is what some jeeping acquantences have, and those are Teraflex and another guy who's running one from Coast Driveline, seem to be satisfied with those.
PM one of the online venders like Baseline 4x4 or Northridge 4x4, they would have way better info than I. Also you could start a thread and ask the forum members what they're running.
Good luck with your build, look foreward to seeing the finished product.
P.S. I just installed the RC 1.25 body lift. It adds good additional clearence to the wheelwells and fenders. You would certainly be able to get by with less of a suspension lift and probably save youself a few coins. I posted a before and after pic a few days ago. Pull it up, It may help you decide.

whitnall26 Thank you all for your advice. The only reason I was gonna go 6" is because I want to avoid as much trimming as possible thats why i was also looking at an additional 1.25" body lift for the extra clearence.

JE Reel, Tom Woods or Adam's with the 1350 joint. But keep in mind that you can clear 37's with a 2.5" lift minimum with some trimming. There are other routes you can go without spending that entire 20K.

WatchThis! Haha I hope you plan on hauling a gocart around if you are going to run 38's. With my 37's & 5:38's I wouldnt try to haul any car. You can do a lot to a jeep with 20k and make it look good. But if you plan on whelling it hard you wont make it. But if you only plan to do med trail riding you can do it easy. And if thats all you plan on doing you wont need another spair set of wheels and tires. Iv got almost 30k in mine so far and nothing I have done besides the paint I had shot was for looks. The inside is still 100% stock.

whitnall26 I have a budget of 20 grand for my jeep and yes I have been given a pull parts list by top gun customz but am waiting for an answer to my original question from them as well. And the reason I want 18" rims is because this is gonna partially for show as well I plan on buying a seperate set of tire for offroad use on a 16" rim but when I use my jeep to haul my car to shows i want it to look as nice as my car so i'm getting 18" procomp metal mulisha rims.

river2c You can fit those tires on a 2.5" lift with flat fenders or a 4" lift with stock fenders. What front axle do you have? The higher you lift, the more costs involved to do it correctly.

6" lifts require a LOT of parts to do correctly. Are you familiar with what your going need and have to purchase?

whitnall26 Yes I have a bit my grandfather was a class A mechanic so i kinda grew up in a garage. I just recently did a engine swap in a honda del sol but i've decided to put that build on hold and focus on my jeep. so I wouldnt say i'm a pro but i have a bit of knowledge.

Lift

So i'm looking online at lift kits for my 08 4door and the biggest i have been able to find is 6 inch. keep in mind this is my first lift so i'm gonna risk sounding like a tool to ask my question. i want to install 38x15.5 inch tires on a 18 inch rim but the 6 inch lift says it will only fit 37x14.5's. there is an 1.25 inch body lift for it which im sure will give me the height clearance but what about the width? will my dream tires fit? and once again sorry for the stupid question like i said first lift.
