|_3m||I just took mine apart, it's pretty simple to figure out. Once apart it goes back the same way. Once the panel is off you can see everything. When I say it's simple, I mean it. To get the glass back in you'll need to do so at a 45 degree angle|

I came across this disassembly guide for the JK (link is at the bottom), it's a 2008 but the process seems the same. I will be using the info as a guide...
The part that I am having a problem with is labeled as the carrier plate.
Is this the same process you guys used to installed the glass, or did you go a different route?

|_3m||Not that hard to do, takes about and hour and can be done with a few simple tools|

If you could post pics of where you are having trouble getting the panel off. I do recall it taking a variety of tools and there were a bunch of hidden screws. Also the clips take some force to get it to release.
By FAR the most difficult process was getting the new window in. You have to put it in sideways then rotate it while it's in the door. I had a difficult time with that part.

The window regulator is preventing me from pulling the inner panel out... or do I need to force that panel off. What are the steps to placing the glass in place is there a clip that hold the window in place and how do you go about the whole process?
Thanks for you help.

i just replaced my drivers side front from morris 4x4 center cause of a thief. think it was around $70. the replacement appears to be fine. got it tinted today.
it was easy to replace with minimal tools. i had not ever replaced one before and i would recommend diy. took about 1.5 hours total including glass clean up from inside the door.
if you decide to replace youself, pm me i will send ya some steps.

Called the dealer and got an OEM # of 55395248AB and shows in his system good for 07-13. Just using this as a reference for me and anyone else looking. I'm just going to order one, take the door off and do it myself.
Can anyone comment on whether they would trust that part I posted in post #1?

Oh man that sucks! I've locked my keys in the Jeep before but I've usually had a soft top so I can always get in. I actually did do it once on my 2010 before I removed the hard top but luckily the tail gate was still unlocked so I just crawled through.
$40 seems like a good deal on a window but I've got no idea how to install one. As long as it's not a big PITA I'd say give it a try.

|Jakesdad||I used to carry a spare key in my wallet but these keys are too big now. Anybody got any good ideas on how or where to hide a spare key on the vehicle?|
|05-29-2012 12:29 AM|
First time in 12 years of driving Ive locked my keys in and at the worst time. I figured the front passenger was going to be the cheapest replacement.
def my d'oh moment.

|the Kolector||Ouch, that sucks. I would do it myself and save the extra cash for a spare valet key you can hide somewhere on the Jeep incase of a "next time"|

Replacement Passenger side front window
In an unfortunate accident involving me locking my key in my car on top of a mountain in 60mph winds and 30 degree temps I had to break a window out.
What's the best option? Dealer or just do it myself?
Cheap replacement here.
