JeepWranglerNation Follow up:

Granted Mopar/Jeep needs to shoot the molds better.. they are using a lesser compound that fades over time.. clearly they would have learn something after the first few jeeps went into production. So you mean to tell me "jeep" doesn't filter into these forums and have a look at what everyone is talking about?.. sure they do. just seems they are to lazy to correct the fading issue.

BTW; you can paint the Fenders with Krylons fusion paint.. just one needs to prep and clean the fenders before hand.. again I've done this on the 99 Wrang.. and worked well.

Leveldrummer thanks! ill look into the turtle wax product as well. im sure any of these products will have to be applied frequently like armor all or tire wet to keep that look. i wish there was a more permanent solution, i guess i could always buy some new fenders.

JeepWranglerNation For me, when we had the 99.. i asked this same question and even submitted an idea to Krylon.. Their fusion paint was ok on the flares and worked for the camo treatment.. but just not what I wanted.. Now that we have the 08.. the flares are also showing signs of fading.. I've been using Turtlewax UV protectant.. but after applying it started raining.. leaving chalky spots.

TurtleWax took note of my blog and suggested that I use their new Ultimate Black.. designed just for these types of applications.. I've yet to buy some and requested a sample.. and haven't heard back.

Thou with any product.. it's best to find a test area to try it first.. cause I'd hate for you to do all your fenders etc.. only to have them look worse.

Leveldrummer thanks guys, im familiar with how to seach on a forum, but without basic key words, its rather hard to find things sometimes. it really isnt a big deal to answer a question that has been asked before is it?

Nano I think every Jeep with plastic parts has that issue, whether it's flares or bumpers and I believe even the mirrors will fade, though not as quickly. There are products and methods that will darken the plastic back up, but I believe most of those methods will need to be done again in the future.

I had used "Forever Black" on my stock flares and bumpers, but they ended up fading again within a couple years.

bbtj Yes, you can use the search function and get all kinds of answers, ranging from Back to Black, 303, and using a heat gun or hair dryer.

fender/flair upkeep?

i have an 08 with the black plastic fenders, they are starting to fade a little from the sun, is there an easy way to get them to darken back up? what about protection from fading anymore? id like them to be as black as the mirrors, any ideas?
