County98 Yup. It was a toss up for me. I deploy a lot and wanted the wife stress free.

Also, my new Rubi couldn't be more different than my first CJ5. Fack, it's 2013. EVERYTHING is computer controlled. I'm aware that Chrysler will try to get out of it at some point. I will never have a dealer change my oil and it will not go unmolested for 20 years.

Just peace of mind I guess.

OP-pick your path, hope for the best and have fun.

i.e.-I really want an Spod to do a nice dedicated clean install of lights and stuff, but I'm afraid Chrysler will void out anything electrical once I install it. That would suck alot since the main reason I got the warranty was for the electronics that I cant fix.
That is the main reason why I didn't buy the extra warranty coverage. I've read many posts of people that had to jump through hoops every 5 years getting things checked. If you couldn't prove that you had all of the proper maintenance performed at the proper intervals, Chrysler would figure out a way to blacklist you and not honor the warranty.

I didn't want to be tied to the dealership for life. I also wanted to do what I wanted with my Jeep without asking Chrysler's permission first and hope that they would still honor the warranty later. It would be too much of a hassle for me. I'd rather use my local mechanic that does a better job at a reasonable cost and still have the freedom to do what I want with mods. If it costs me more because something major breaks outside of the standard warranty, I guess that is the cost of freedom.

That sounds right. I had to use it a few times on an 09 Patriot. Price does sound a little inflated, though. Most are paying around $1800.

TXTJ We got it on our 2012 JKU Rubicon for $2400 back in March. Salesman said it is not transferable but as long as the title stays in our name (i.e. give it to one of our kids 15 years from now) it will still be honored.

Thanks for the link. At least that answers the question about whether we can buy the lifetime warranty after it's considered a used vehicle.

The cost on the Jeep website doesn't look too attractive. The listed price for the Maximum Care lifetime warranty, equipped with 4-wheel drive, is $4,260.

RoadiJeff Yes, I know, 6 month old thread.

Anyway, we bought our 2013 Sahara yesterday. The finance manager tried to sell us all sorts of warranties, GAP insurance, etc., which we declined.

One that I was interested in but that I wanted to do some more price research on was the bumper-to-bumper lifetime warranty. He said he could sell it to me for $3,000.

I don't' recall if that included GAP coverage or not but when I asked him if I could think it over and buy it later as long as my 3 yr/36 mo factory warranty was still in effect he said no, that once I drove it off the lot the vehicle became used and he could only sell the lifetime warranty to me on a new vehicle.

Unless Chrysler has changed their policy on when someone can purchase the lifetime warranty he was just trying to pressure me to make a instant decision. The $3,000 price may have been a tad high as well. I can see that he wouldn't want me researching what others have paid for this coverage before buying it through him.

Randman70 what i was saying was, i paid $1800 for the life time warranty, and the warranty on the wheels and tires... since my wheels and tires cost $2000, i feel good about how much i paid for the wa warranty.. no worries, its the internets...lol

pat@fieldsauto.com If you are talking about the road hazard package that's a different story.

I call it how I see it that's all. I'm not being a dick, but you are stating that you got the lifetime warranty and $2000 worth of wheels and tires for 1800. Seems odd that's all. Maybe I read it wrong but to me it's really misleading to the other members. Not trying to start an argument my bad.

nickmimi We bought it for both of our 2011 Jeeps. We originally purchased at a higher cost, but found out the real cost and went back to the dealership and renegotiated for $1800 each. The dealer preferred to decrease the cost rather than cancel them.

We plan on keeping the jeeps for a long time.

You can buy it thru any jeep dealership. Cost is 1700 with a $100 deductible. So go back to your dealership and negotiate a deal with them for it if you decide to buy it.

For those of you that bought used Jeeps that are still under the standard 3/36 you can purchase it as well.
wow that is allot less than my dealer was quoting. they were really pushing the jm&a warranty that i did not purchase. would it be possible to buy the warranty through you and get the 12mo payment plan that they offer. btw I'm in Florida.

DaK Our 09 came with a liftetime warranty on the transmission. We bought the lifetime as we are not planning on gettin rid of the jeep and wanted the extra peace of mind for the engine and electronics.

daggo66 It was also included in 09. In 2010 it became 100K and transferable,

willee51 This is a repeat post, but I will answer again: I got it

Had 3 engine failures, due to frying "coil paks" at 1300-mi. Towed in twice! Failed the 3rd time during the Dealer test drive after repair #2!

The fix: a bandaid type of fix! Friends still laugh every time they see the repair. Yas at 10K it's still running, BUT, I am DAMN glad I have the Life Time!

It was worth the cost for me! NO, it is not transferable
05-31-2012 06:58 PM
GeckoJK The lifetime warranty doesn't exist here in Canada btw. I paid to extend mine from the standard 3 year up to 5 year 100k km bumper to bumper. The basic is only 3 years 60k km.
