manual transmission wont go into gear
hey guys I need some help with my brothers tj, its a 2002 with the 4.0 motor. For about a year the throw out bearing has been making some noise like it was going out, but it still drove fine so I didnt think much of it. Recently it got difficult to put in any gear while it was running (it went into gear fine while not running). I replaced the slave cylinder and the problem was fixed for about 3 days then it had the same problem again. I pulled the slave cylinder off thinking it needed to be bled again, but the slave cylinder rod was completely pushed out of the housing. I replaced the broken slave cylinder but it still wont go into gear. The clutch pedal has plenty of pressure so I dont believe it could be the master cylinder, but maybe I'm wrong. I tried to put it in gear and start the jeep but it wont start and jumps forward like the clutch wont disengage. Also when the clutch is all the way pushed to the floor it makes a stretching noise and goes away when I let it up a little. The throw out bearing had been making some noise for about the past year, but it still ran fine so I didnt think it would be worth it to pull the transmission. After replacing the slave cylinder the throw out bearing noise went away. Does anyone have any advice about what it could be?
Thanks in advance for any information.
