You ever hear how a squirrel chatters??? Kind of a hollow click/chock chock type chattering... thats the only thing I can compare to a throw out bearing going bad. And it would do it with the clutch pedal disengaged.
If you don't get it looked at, what happened to me in a ranger anyways is that it will eventually come off the front of the shaft and shoot clutch fluid all over the plates. Don't freak out if your at a light with the clutch in and all of a sudden you loose all pedal pressure and there is a huge cloud of white smoke rolling out from under ya.

need help figuring out the noise
I have a 99 jeep wrangler 2.5L. 5 speed. The other day i heard a noise coming from the clutch. When the clutch is disengaged it makes an almost grinding noise/squeeling noise. Everything shifts into gears just fine though. I did a little research and came across the possibility of it being the throw out bearing. I also just had the whole front axle replaced, problem is it was used, could there be a problem in the gear box? Any thoughts? Thanks
