americonium I live in Nassau County. That being said, I was @ Smith Point on Monday, it cost $40.00 for the day, and the pass is good for the aforementioned beaches. You need a jack, a jackboard, a rope or snatch strap, flashlight, first aid kit, fire extinguisher, tire pressure gauge, and I believe an air chuck, for filling back up. You must air down (15 psi?) and speed limit is 10 mph, I believe. Why am I fuzzy on the requirements? Because as soon as they inspect your equipment, you're left to your own devices. I saw a Suffolk County SUV out on the beach, but I don't believe they were out there to bust anyone. Good luck.

Never said the beach pass was $24. I was talking about Green Key. The link below it says Green Key info.

The beach pass was $93 this year. Good from Jan 2012 to Dec 2012 (or until the new stickers come out i was told)

You can take your Jeep out and park on the sand and just sit out and relax with all the other people or cruise the sandy trails and enjoy the day. There is never a shortage of people willing to help out someone who might get stuck and as long as you dont behave like an ass you wont have any problems. The usual equipment is required and if your not sure what that is you can Google it. The pass is $95 for the season but it also requires a "Green Key" pass so if you dont have one you will have to cough up another $35 for that but the Green Key is good for 3 years I think.

BRUNO_NY I was also looking at this but robert moses you have to be in the beach before 7Am. Correct me if i'm wrong.

Ken129 So the beach 4x4 permit is more or less just for accessing surf casting.....its not for recreation I gather......is there any trails for just recreational use where I can actually fit other people in my jeep besides fishing equipment?
06-10-2012 01:28 PM
Vin Fishing poles for everyone 12+ years or older in the 4x4, fishing tackle, lures/bait, a shovel, a tire guage capable of <10 psi, Recovery strap/chain, portable toilet, spare tire, jack, and jack board.
06-07-2012 10:21 PM
jstone326 and as far as "mandatory supplies," its supposed to be a fishing permit, i.e. a 4x4 permit for the purpose of accessing fishing sites. So you're supposed to have fishing equipment and a bunch of other stuff... you can find it all on NYS parks website, though their pricing and contact info is a little harder to find. But if you call them, they're pretty helpful/nice
06-07-2012 10:15 PM
jstone326 I got mine at Robert Moses too, and I think the only other places you can get them is the Park headquarters which is somewhere near Robert Moses and Montauk.
06-07-2012 09:29 PM
Vin I believe Jan 1. All State permits expire on Dec 31. I got mine at Robert Moses Park. I'll see if I can dig up a list of places that issues them.
06-07-2012 01:34 AM
Ken129 Well that blows........thanks.........when does the season open to where I'm able to register?
06-07-2012 12:47 AM
Vin The state beach passed are done. You only have until April 31 to get one. I believe you can get Suffolk County one still, but I'm not sure where to go for those and they are $95 a pop.

Where do you go to get one?......I'm closest to Jones beach

How much are they?

Does it come with a list of " mandatory supplies"?

I have stock tires should I wait to get it? Or are stock tires alright?
