|mystery7574||Thought I would update everyone on my situation and hopefully someone has some suggestions for me. So I fixed my tipm. Out of my pocket of course. And my starter, and battery and all the recalls. And had back maybe two weeks and jeep already tried to not start. Turn ignition two more tines and it started the bolt.symbol and engine light were on when it wouldn't start any suggestions? Also now the 4wd light comes on sometimes when starting However doesn't engage goes out after ten seconds. Added another ground wire so far its starting but every now and then that engine light flashes when starting and it shouldn't. Tired of taking to stealership since they tell me if they can't reproduce the problem they can't fix it and it started each and every time there..|

|skeeter||Got my rig back a week ago after they said they couldn't reproduce the problem. It's happened twice since. Once was in heavy traffic and I nearly got run over. This is bull shit.|

|skeeter||I talked to the service manager today and explained what I'd found online, he said "yep, sounds like the problem" So I asked when they could get it done. They can't do anything until they can recreate the problem for themselves and since they aren't driving it who knows when it will occur again.|

...and to add to this, Fiat (which nearly outright owns Chrysler) isn't American either. I actually think it was a good thing for all of the Big 3 to get involved with foreign auto makers, their cars have come a long way since then with more japanese and euro tech trickling into the 'american" made cars.

|skeeter||Hmm, glad I found this. My new to me, 08 JKUR just went into the shop for the same problems. Wipers going full blast, horn blowing constantly, lights flashing, engine stalled in traffic almost getting me hit. Mechanic said he doesn't have any idea what the problem is. He's been working on it for 4 days and can't figure it out. Think I'll send him a link to this thread.|

charity jeep wrangler
New to this forum
This is a shortened version of the long story
We bought a jeep wrangler sahara for our charity in the UK, after about 2 years and 10,000 miles it stopped and I saw smoke coming out of the engine.
I got it towed to my garage who tole me it needed a new head gasket and that it was low on oil. The bill over £2000.
I called up Jeep and explained the problem and they said it was ourt of warrenty by a matter of weeks and that it was probably due to bad maintenance!!!!
After long e mails and phone calls we were told that we would not get it fixed on warranty and we have to pay for it ourselves (the charity does not have the money to pay for it).
We decided to take it further and have it re assessed anyway the new quote came in at £8000 because it had been too long and now it needed a new engine.
That was 2 years ago and it is still in the garage because we cannot raise funds to get it repaired.
With all the talk about recalls I wondered if it is worth having it reassed and maybe get them to take it?????
Any help on this would be gratefully received.

|mystery7574||I got my jeep back Friday after fixing tipm. And now I am having a few different issues going on. 4wd light comes on even when not engaged, and when engaging transmission into drive almost a second hesitation. I am now extremely frustrated and think its just time to sell it|

I See Nothing Has Changed-Never Will
Little back ground on me.Since its my first post. I worked for Chrysler back in the 90s. As a parts guy, mechanic and eventually a service manager. Me and another guy even got a few TSBs to our credit. We found that dreaded valve float issue. So I have been around the block with their customer service. And parts quality. This was when they started the 5star program. We got our 5stars but it was hard as hell with what we had to work with. I was ashamed to be associated with Chrysler. Well I moved on in life to a national communications company. The only Chrysler vehicle I would own is GC 2wd with AW4 4.0 engine. We would see those 200k all the time. But with issues like shorted cam sensor wiring and fuel sending units. I was the guy who had to try and explain to these customers how shitty their car is. I remember one woman in tears about her car dyeing all the time. Scaring the hell outta her. And endangering her kids. Then after I left Chrysler. I did buy a GC for my wife. Her window regulator went out in her GC. A $360 part at the time. With no aftermarket options. We were 123 miles over mileage. But 8 months under on time for the warranty. Did they cover it? He'll no! This has been a issue fir over a decade. We would sell a half dozen a week. Always kept a few on the shelf. But the ladies in customer no service wouldn't give. I escalated as far as I could same response. I told em we were a young growing family in our twentys. With several more car purchases in our future. Are you really gonna lose me for life as a customer. Over your known defective part? I swore they would never get a dime outta me. And they haven't since. But I have always loved Wranglers. And am in the market for a new car. I currently have a F250 7.3 diesel with 230k on it no issues. And my toy 94 FJ80 triple locked and armored land cruiser with 220k miles no issues. So I test drove a 4 door the other night. And really loved it. But I know Chrysler quality. I kept telling myself. Maybe they changed like Ram. And stepped it up in quality and service. After all we did bail em out with our tax dollars. Maybe they used that as a turning point to restructure. So not even considering a Chrysler product for the last 12 years or so. I literally had no clue as to their current state. So I found this great site. Similar to IH8MUD for the land cruisers. And after reading this thread and few others. I see nothing has changed. It sux because Wranglers could be so much fun. I wish Toyota would build Wranglers for Chrysler. It's pretty sad when a 20 year old LC with 220 thousand miles on it. Is more reliable than a new $40k Wrangler. Maybe one day they will get it together before I die. So I can have some fun in a Wrangler. I want one so bad! But I need it to be my DD. And pull my flats skiff down to Keys and Glades every year. Damn it! Somebody talk some stupid into me. So I will buy one.

|mystery7574||Chrysler reasoning on not paying is their is not currently an extended warranty issue on this part however, if they recall within the next 12 months we could get reimbursed. At this point after two weeks I just want my damn jeep back I guess. Its almost not even worth the fight anymore. If anyone else has anymore suggestion please pm imnat a loss right now.|

|mystery7574||I just found out after two weeks of an open star case with Chrysler that my tipm is faulty and they are not going to fix it at their cost. So now I have to cough up 800.00 . See you in court Chrysler|

New here and new to Jeep. I have 2011 Overland and loved it till last wednesday when it wouldn't start. It turned over but never started. I had it towed and they tell me its the TIPM and there are 1,400 on back order and part wil not be available till 9/28....and oh by the way we're at $1,220 in cost!! WTF! Really! I bought the car used last november "certifified Pre-owned" with 28K on it. It now has 43K. It's not covered. This is so not right or fair. I'm in medical sales and cover all of CT and need a reliable car! I traded in my 2009 Mercedes E350 (which all I ever did was regular maintenance) for this crap! That car had 110K on it and I should have kept it. Lesson learned! Anyways my Jeep has been in the shop since Wednesday and I don't know what to do now. I'm pushing back on the dealer and will call Chrysler today. Anyone have some helpful tips.......... FRUSTRATED!!!

Being that this is an electrical issue, could it be related to problems with ABS?
We have a 2008 Sahara and have had both the front and back brakes locks up in the last 8 months. We were told in both cases it could possible be an issue with the ABS but no "root cause" was ever found.
We are now facing the occasional but un-reproducable issue of the horn fluttering, doors locking and unlocking quickly, lights blinking, wipers going off, and washer fluid shooting all at the same time. Most of the time it's been happening when we were parked, but this last time it happened when we were driving.
The Jeep was in the shop just two weeks ago to diagnose the issue and they said they replaced a shorted passenger door lock switch actuator.
We had a case open for the brake issues, but trying to get ahold of someone to re-open it or someone to even listen to us that we have an issue has been impossible.
I've been trying to get Chrysler to open a Customer care case to no avail. About ready to turn to the social media route or FB/Twitter shaming to get someone to listen.

08 jeep tipm
Mine started acting up. Headlights went out driving down the road at 50. Seems like a safety hazard. Unhooked battery and when you hook it back up the horn goes off.

|BJK2080||Had mine in 3 times for electrical issues. Replaced wireless control module and starter.. Nothing. Replaced TIPM and all was fine. Chrysler knows of the prob as my brother works for them but not enough complaints or safety concerns for them to broadcast a recall. They are addressing them as they come up bc they are a very expensive part. Heard a tech comment that they are hoping most fail after factory warranty expires.|

|CM2112||I have to bring mine into dealer this week while under warranty. Several weeks ago I was leaving for work and after I started my jeep no dash lights came on and I couldn't put it into gear. I flipped the headlights on and off and everything came on and I haven't had an issue since, really weird.|
