JeepNub Allright. Thanks for the info. Only problem is. My CJ has a tailgate. I just thought of that haha

fluff Hi JeepNub,
The tire mount was mounted with a 1 1/4 round stock, it went through the bumper and was welded top and bottom. I used a piece of 1 1/4 ID black pipe, that went all the way through the spare tire frame, for the hinge. I drilled and taped the 1 1/4 round stock with a 3/8 bolt and washer on the top. On the latch side, has a small piece of 3/4 flatt stock for the suport and used a 5/8 latch pin to hold it and it doesn't rattle.

JeepNub Did you have to balance the swing arm for the rear at all, or did you just stick it on swivels? And how is noise with that? Squeaks?

fluff Hi. In my little shop I use a Miller 130 xp and a Lincoln 225. Nun of these welders are to expensive and I use them on my farm machinery. I have to do all my work on my CJ5 in the winter time, when I have time to play.
PS The fron and rear bumper match with a swing out tire carrier on the rear. Thanks for your interest.

Seriously though. I would pay good money for a bumper similar to that. It is much better than I could do most likely.

My 1976 CJ5 home made Bumper

This is a picture of the bumper that I built for my Cj5, it is a peice of 4 x 2 x 3/16 tubing, with the d rings hooked on with a 3/4 flatt stock and bolted to the frame. Cost wise is about $66.00, minus the d rings and a 1/2 a days work...
