Better fuel economy driving with the fog lights off??? I don't think so. It is perfectly legal to drive with the fog lights on, and if people are flashing their brights at you it's not because of the fog lights.
I thought this was funny. My wife used to have an Alero when those first came out. People always flashed their brights at us, some people flashed them excessively. They usually stopped when I flashed mine back! =) The lights on the Alero were pretty dang bright though, so I could see how they would think we were driving with the brights on. A flash or two, fine. 5 or 6+, flash them back! haha

|orange05tj||I had the silverstars in both my wifes car and the Jeep. the wifes car, the bulbs died after 6 months, replaced them with HID conversion, the Jeeps are still going strong. I threw the fogs in the garbage because my bumper is a winch plate and bar.|

|richp||In a nutshell, FOGS are supposed to illuminate UNDER the headlights, low beams a bit further, highs even further, driving lights are supposed to go beyond that.|

If you mean off road lights like KC Daylighters then you are correct, those are for OFF road only. Too may people use the term "fog lights" to mean anything other than headlights.
True fog lights shine a very wide, but low (as in not too high off the ground) beam so as not to reflect back at the driver when used in the fog.

|flounder35||Super human--In reference to Strykar's post, here in this wonderful SH*T hole of maryland, we are only allowed to have 4 uncovered forward facing lights while on the road. I bought the KC daylighter 223's the other day and when someone comes at me with the highbeams on, the 200,000 candle power reminds them to please, check your high beams...|

He He - when you blind the other person, you might get to meet them - HEAD-ON at a combined speed of 120+ MPH. The natural tendency of the other driver is to aim for the lights.
You'll only do it once.
Of course I'd never do it, but some people will follow you to your next stop. When you come out, all you find is broken glass instead of headlights!
Be a gentleman and you'll never have those kinds of trouble.

|bluvikng||Unless you all are visually impaired, keep the friken fog lights off, when on the roads. They are only made for off road use. If you need that much light, go drive in circles at a football stadium. You might be able to see just fine, but what about the driver coming towards you. It is very bad road manners to run anything but your normal headlights, when on the road. Do unto others, as you would have them do to you. Think about it!!!!!!!|

|Strykar||plus a lot of states have laws against having to many lights on and the brightness lvl. make sure you check local laws about it.|

|Skitzic||The bulbs that came with my Wrangler suck. I had better night vision in my first car...and only one headlight ever worked in that puppy. Quite possibly the worst high beams I've ever seen.|

|thesuperhuman||No I mean the PIAA ones arent ricey, the silverstars are alright if you want headlights everything else is gay though, like those blue turn signal lights. The best ones I think you could find are like rally lights but I dont think you can buy those at any legit sites.|
|09-27-2006 05:44 PM|
|Strykar||the silverstars ricey????? trust me, with the stars, they dont look ricey, now if you slap in some of those bs rear tail light kits and the blackout front kits, hahha, now thats ricercity|
|09-27-2006 05:40 PM|
|thesuperhuman||I actually used to have the PIAA bulbs on my old car and those were alot nicer than the silverstars. The headlights were like this bluish/purplish tint but not horrible ricey and the fogs were called plasma yellow, that combo rocked. I used to sit there and just look at it. But I figured out what im gonna do about the flashing people and that is Im gonna try to put two of those 15 million candle power bulbs into another set of foglights and mount them somewhere in the front. I think that will give those people a good reason not to flash anyone anymore. BTW I got flashed 23 times yesterday on a 50 min long trip.|

|Strykar||mine is in the shop right now, getting the face lift from the accident. im pretty sure they are just bulbs, but even so, the whole light kit is only like 20-40 a piece|

|97REDTJ||When you dot he upgrade do they come like the oem headlights or do you have to upgrade the whole thing where all you do is buy the bulb. I know Delta has the head lamp upgrade where you can change just the bulb, is this the same thing? or is like a sealed lights like the oem one's?|
|09-26-2006 09:07 PM|
|Strykar||they are awesome, i run em on my rig and my buddy has em on his 95 cobra. they are awesome and you see so much clearer and better its well worth the upgrade.|
|09-26-2006 07:41 PM|
|97REDTJ||hahaha something also funny is that i have a 4 inch suspension lift on my jeep and when i pull up to people my head lights are usally even with there rear-view mirror and they have to adjust it. Its sounds childlike but i still get a kick outta it. I get the same problem with the fog lamps to but i just flash my lights back at them and keep going. How do you like the silverstar lights? i have been wanting to get some but never heard anythign about them.|

|Dare2BSquare||My wife's bimmer has the xenon lights and people were constantly flashing us at first... I guess people have gotten used to xenons because it doesn't happen much anymore. Still it can be annoying. She is picking up her new bimmer Friday and we didn't get xenons on this one.|
|09-26-2006 04:38 PM|
|Strykar||yeah, i get that all the time,, you really wanna piss em off, put a set of silverstar bulbs in your headlights, whne they flash you, flash em back, hahaha. i know its mean and stupid, but i can guarantee you that the same person will not flash you twice.|
|09-26-2006 04:09 PM|
Has any one had this problem where when your foglights are on other people start flashing their highbeams at you?
Ive had this problem ever since I git the jeep and those people are startign to get pretty annoying. At first I thought it might be that the lights were not aligned properly so I checked and readjusted them, and then I had my friend who is a state inspector check and they are just fine. Ive seen them on other jeeps and they are not that bright. I just wanted to see if anyone else runs into this problem.
