I would like the answers to the questions in the last two posts above also, please!

Annndd, would the accessories you listed also be the ones needed for the 4400. I don't need a unit as bad ass as the 8400, although it IS tempting!

Thanks!!!

apang Did you need to get a satellite antenna for the 8400? I am getting ready to order this head unit and wasn't sure if I needed to since I was going to get the wire harness that connects to the factory harness.

Also what kickers are you using? I was going to order two sets of these to put in the front and roll bar

Kicker DS6.2

jydder Thanks for the info. I'm thinking about installing one of these also. Does the unit fit snugly in the dash? Can you post a pic? In pictures I've seen the front face on the pioneer looks larger to me than the stock head unit, but that is just from eyeballing it.

Do I need to use an amp with these head units or are they powerful enough already? I also really want to replace my fronts with some components but don't know how to run new wire to the tweeters from the crossover and whether or not the tweeters will fit in the stock pods without modification. I know I can't use the stock wire connected to the stock tweeters because of the signal limiting circuit wired into them. It's these little questions that are bugging me.
The AVH-P8400BH radio has a “safety” feature that disables video on the unit unless you pull the parking brake release it and pull it again every time you want to use video, It also disables some of the phone features unless the parking brake is pulled.

You can defeat this on older Pioneers using a simple relay but on this model they have gone to a double pulse so you need a microprocessor controlled relay to handle the job. There are several options but the PAC-TR7 is easy and works well.

If you choose not to do the bypass you will either have to wire the unit to the parking brake or add a switch you can manually toggle.

The amp has plenty of power to drive the Kicker speakers I am currently using and given the space limitations in the Jeep I doubt I will add any additional amplification.

I know Quadratec has replacement tweeters that will fit the factory pods so you may be able to get some idea what might work by looking at that.

Good luck hope the install goes well for you post some pics when you finish. I will be posting some myself as soon as I get a chance.

Edit to add I just noticed you said 9400BH which I believe is the DEH-9400BH a single DIN unit so most of the above would not apply to that radio.

2012 Sport Pioneer AVH-P8400BH Install

Just installed the Pioneer AVH-P8400BH in my '12 sport its a great unit.

You do need to remove the metal bracket behind the factory radio so the Pioneer will fit. I used the screws that attached the bracket to support a piece of heavy gauge solid wire looped around the radio to provide rear support which did the job nicely.

To do the install you need the following accessories:

PAC C2R-CHY4 CANBUSS adapter
PAC SWI-PS if you want to retain steering wheel controls
PAC PAC-TR7 if you want to bypass the parking brake lockout
Metra 40-EU10 antenna adapter
Metra 95-6511 Dash Kit or Scosche CR1291B Dash Kit

If anyone has questions let me know.
