MTJeeper I am usually gone during the work week. I have to travel out of state almost every week. Post some planned trips as they come up. Just play it by ear.

Raif I might be in Missoula around the 1st and 2nd of april for a concert. Great falls the two days before. Maybe we could get something together for then?
03-01-2013 11:28 PM

02-22-2013 07:20 PM

.....tell me about it! I am sure it wouldn't be a problem out wheeling. But I drive on the highway every day. Between ball joints and a bent tie rod it is all over the place.
Maybe I will lay down a mean thrash with the old parts and replace them afterwards.

Dirty Palms Man it seems like you are always fixing something on that thing. It's a jeep. It likes to run with broken parts!

Raif If I get my ball joints done in time, count me in!

Dirty Palms Flathead pass and Johnson canyon are about 15-20 miles down springhill rd (which turns into rocky mountain rd) north of bozeman.
02-13-2013 05:51 PM
shawnh201 I may be...where is flathead pass?
02-12-2013 09:02 PM
Dirty Palms Well guys, hunting is over and ice fishing is starting to slow down a bit. I think its about time to go wheeling again. Going to go up flathead pass, take the back way into Johnson canyon and see if I can make it to the top. If anyone is interested let me know. I leave for the east coast in three weeks so it'll be before then. Who's in?
10-11-2012 10:41 PM
clarkkent Also in Great Falls down for a meetup anytime

duffer Newby to this forum but elderly with respect to just about everything else. In all the above posts, there is no mention of the Tobacco Roots which without doubt, have some of the best wheeling in the SW part of the state.

Here are a few:

South Meadow Creek, FS 1221. McAllister access. My stock JK has no problems with it, but a couple of spots you need to pick the line well.
Some pics of S. Meadow from last weekend here:

North Meadow Creek, FS 965/6338/6340. McAllister access or take Warm Springs Creek road over the Revenue Flats from Norris. You might get a stock JK/TJ up these but highly likely they will not look too good after the run. Lots of boulders and I'm going to say lockers and/or winch necessary but rewards are some great scenery. I use my 3B flatty on these. Actually, there are quite a few miles of easy Jeep road just on the Revenue Flates off of Madison County Road 98.

N. Meadow to S. Willow Creek, FS160, McAllister access. Only a couple miles of real Jeep trail-very steep and can get pretty muddy, but no body damage.

South Boulder Creek, FS 107. Cardwell access. About 4 miles good Jeep trail to Sailor Lake trail head (1/4 mile hike to lake-Trail 7140, another 1/4 mile hike to Globe Lake, and maybe 1.5 mile hike (Trail 7167) to Brannan Lakes. If you do hike this area, keep the eyes open as we ran into a sow grizzly with 2 cubs a couple weeks back. She had a funny little red dot on her for a few seconds and was WAY to close.

Wisconsin Creek/Noble Fork, FS 6370/8300/6015. Sheridan access. Another very scenic area with several lakes, including Crystal, Jackson, Sunrise, Noble, and Blossom. The only one you can directly drive to is Noble. Stock Jeep can probably make all but some of the Noble Fork trail.

Bear Gulch/Boulder Lakes, FS 1007. Twin Bridges access. Cake walk into lower Boulder Lake but trail from Lower to Upper Boulder Lake has a couple shelfs where you will want lockers on both ends or you will be running line.

Indian Creek, FS 158. Sheridan access. Not too challanging but again, nice scenery. Used to be able to drive into Rossiter Lake but FS rebuilt the last 3 to 4 miles of trail for hiking only.

Pony/Windy Pass/N. Willow/Cataract Creek. Bunch of old mining roads in this area. Not sure what is now open as the fire last summer no doubt burned a lot of it.

If I get my 3B back together (scattered all over the garage for a cam change and a few other modifications), we are going to try to hit N. Meadow one more time in the next couple of weeks. If we do, we will likely camp overnight at Upper Twin Lake and do some hiking/fishing.

1988wranglers Hey guys, new to this Forum I am a member of another online Jeep forum and I was talking to some Bozeman guys who are thinking about doing a big meet and greet/cruise through Bozeman later in October. We were thinking cruise Bozeman hit 7th, 19th, Main that kinda thing then end up at Buffalo Wild Wings. Then another week do a trail ride somewhere. We were thinking if we get 5 people together who all know 5 other Jeepers we already have 25 Jeeps! I'm trying to spread the word to make this happen cause it sounds like a blast

Raif Great falls jeepers: I am on top of hill 57 as we speak.
09-24-2012 11:48 AM
Raif Of course. I don't live there anymore, but I'm only a few hours away, and visit every once and a while. There are a few other guys I meet up with too. Check out the great falls 4x4 Facebook if you do that.

09-04-2012 02:42 PM
Dirty Palms So the plan is to go wheeling on the 8th up at flathead pass and johnson canyon. If anyone wants to tag along let me know and we will meet up.

Dirty Palms Olsen creek is past the M a bit. I know they cleaned it up a bit but don't know if they blocked off the trails or not. It's a easy ride. Johnson canyon, flathead pass, and corbly gulch are all down springhill rd. They are easy as well but have spots that you can easily get stuck in if you pick the wrong line, so bring a friend just incase.
08-19-2012 01:53 AM
Cole 33 What's the easiest and where's it at would it be do able for me to just hit up myself and thanks!

Dirty Palms Close by trails are flathead pass, Johnson canyon, corbly gulch, and olsen creek.
