What did you say?!?? I can't hear you!!
I blast music all the time and have been around about 150 different cannon firings (and by around I mean part of the team loading the cannon) I hear just fine. When im 50 and have hearing issues, ill get a hearing aid my dad has one. Big deal. I love music and I love it loud

You might just want to do a little research on what is really happening or you will be spending your middle and older age asking "HUH????", missing out on important conversations and adding $$$$ to the pockets of those investing in hearing aid companies.

And now anyone can go ahead and blaze away with all the flames, and inane comments, they want. It won't change one iota of damage done to your hearing.

For those that might want to do some research:

Effects of low frequency noise up to 100 Hz Schust M - Noise Health

Exerpt:
Combined low frequency and steady noise exposure caused significantly increased hearing thresholds verified by tonal audiometry as well as deteriorated intelligibility of whispered speech in comparison with the isolated industrial noise exposure. The differences enlarged with the length of exposure.

AND

Noise Induced Hearing Loss

When hearing is reduced at 3kHz and below, conversation is significantly interfered with.

WatchThis! My bigest hit in comp was 172db. My hearing is still fine. Of corse I did use muffs. Got to use a bit of commen since in life.

BagerX2 You probably shouldnt live life then because stuff happens in your life that isnt good for you. Don't eat good food because its unhealthy, hell don't drive a Jeep because its unsafe.

JeepHerz Thanks!
My father-in law is an audio engineer that loves to tinker everytime we get a new vehicle. I told him to build me a sub. that looks like a fire-extinguisher- it could be out in broad daylight and no one would know what it is. And its not Mall Crawler! LOL. It can be done- he built me a sound tube once about that size. He also built a sub for his convertible that looks like a windscreen. Handy guy to have around....

You are correct to assume I've never taken the seat apart. I can tell you it's quite uncomfy for long trips and hard to sit on as the bottom is a wood box from what I can tell. It also does not rattle and sounds quite good IMO. I know there are a few write ups on how to do it, but from what I remember it's quite extensive. I do love it has it hides it from people creeping on the Jeep and frees up that much more storage space.

No, just being a 4dr JK does a good enough job of that.

I'm just kidding!

Many 03-06 TJ's and Rubicons came from the factory with what Jeep calls a premium sound system with center console sub woofer. Mine has it, although I had to swap out all the speakers for it to sound halfway decent. So, the correct answer is "no".

If you want killer tunes in your Jeep, by all means get them. Who cares what anybody thinks. Including people that post ignorant statements like I started this post with.

DocRooster89 the way i see it, you need a system even if you want to hear NPR over the gangsta rap being blared out of the Frosted Flakes themed impala in the next lane. i say go for it, and play some george strait outta that beast!

After a few years, 12's got stolen at apt complex...so then I run out an buy a parameter alarm system to protect my new 12"s. Then it was constantly being triggered by false alarms and people messing with me (became a joke at 2-3 in the morning).

So, now in my older age I am subwoofer/amp free and can park my Jeep with doors and top off without worrying about it...nothing to steal except for the Jeep itself. I suppose they could steal the soundbar, but why?

Happy to be paranoid free!
You said it brother!!! I was the same way!! I even use a CLUB to lock my wheel lol! my friends are like, people still use those?! Yes they do dammit! I love my Jeep too much to let some one take!

The Korean I like my tunes with bass (listen to alot of dubstep, country, and rock... well hard rock). The single 10" has just the right amount, not to overpowering, but not to soft.

My setup and only reason I leave the back seat in (previous owner did the install)...

Do I wheel it...?

BagerX2 I have a cheap 12 and amp. Yes that sub is plasti-dipped...

WillMc Got 1 ten in mine and its loud as hell with the doors off and hardtop on
.... Had to build custom box tho

WatchThis! I was in USAC comps few years ago. I had 8 15's in my truck on 39's and my buddy had 2 15's in a banpass in the back of a CJ5. We still wheeled the piss out of them.

So I would say no a woofer dosent make it a mall crawler.

Crappy picks buts all I could find right now. Ill try and dig up some of the systems.

JeepHerz Have a Kicker sub and audio system. Do you want better sound? If ya do, just do it and enjoy.
I have the Kicker sub. In a soft top. You don't see it with the top down so in theory the theft possibility is lessened. Except the bass is ridiculous. It kind of screams "aftermarket audio." Little irony there. Really a hard top is no different- there isn't Dynamat from a sound perspective.. I've had 2 vehicles broken into for audio- and neither were convertibles.
The Kicker amps fit under the dash. The sub enclosure is waterproof.

snowbrd84 I dont get the question, if you put a sub in, you would hopefully put it somewhere it wouldn't be visible so that it doesnt get stolen, so in that case, how the hell would anyone know that you have it, therefore how would it seem like a mall crawler (if having a sub made it seem like a mall crawler to begin with).

I enjoy some bass, so I will be putting in a sub/amp that I have laying around into mine when I get around to it. I could care less if someone thinks it makes it seem like a mall crawler, it is all about what you want for your Jeep.

Hell, put in a 1500 Watt system, you could use it to get the mud off after wheeling...

Wow that is silly.

Nickdarocha If your worried about water get a marine system

Six I priced out a setup and I'm probably going to purchase one, but my reservations are not whether or not it makes my jeep seems like a mall crawler.

Issue 1 - A subwoofer in a cloth top jeep will not be very effecient as in a hard top (I own a hard top). A sub in a hard top will not be as effecient as if it had sound deading or in a vehicle that has a traditional top and sound deadening. I don't want to waste money on something that's going to not give me the sound I want. And no, I don't want to have it loud enough so everyone around be is listening to my music.

Issue 2 - Amplifiers + water don't mix. Before mounting an amplifier I need to make and enclosure or find a place to put it so that if it rains or if it gets wet in the Jeep, the amp isn't affected by it. The other issue with this is that if I remove it for times like this, I can't very well leave a live wire from the battery laying in the back; that would have to be disconnected. If the wires did get wet I'd have to worry about corrosion.

I think there was something else, but it just seems like it would be a bigger hassle from practical reasons and not because someone would have a negative opinion of me.
