JeepNub Sorry to mislead haha herculiner is a good. Cheap. Alternative haha. It's very rough, but if you don't mind that'd fine. If you ever wanted to go back to paint it would be difficult but spot repairs aren't too bad. The only other cons are that it holds dirt and can flake if done improperly

lynn In the TJ forum, many guys are using Monstaliner instead of Herc. You might want to check out reports on that product (I've not seen it, only read about it).

Sipe8 Thanks folks for the responses....I have received a few responses that have me second guessing myself! I'll have to sit on it awhile before making my decision.

JeepNub Oh another thing Sipe8. If your wanting color options. Herculiner isn't the way to go. It holds dirt pretty bad so if your going black, you'll never get it clean haha but of course, that only matters if you care.

lynn There's an old thread on the 'net, circa 2001 IIRC, about making sure you don't get Herc on your "hootus" Funny thread, went on for over 50 pages...

JeepNub yeah. It's hard to get it off everything. Comes off like latex paint, but I never said we took it off the whole vehicle haha

lynn Go to Google Images, search on "herculiner jeep exterior"

A few pics show up that show what it looks like close up.
I've seen it, don't like it on the outside. Inside is OK.
Use Durabak if you don''t like the rough texture (same stuff without the rough particles), or other similar products.

Check out some exterior-Herc'd Jeeps in person to see if you like it before putting it on the outside... there's pretty much no going back after it's done...

Sipe8 Thank you both for the responses...JeepNub, I was about 75-80% sure I was going to do it unless I got some bad responses back, but I think you just sold me. I really like the easy fixes part of it. Now, for one more question......Does anyone know approx. how many gallons of herculiner it would take to do the inside/outside?

JeepNub Oh, p.s. Its super easy to put layers on over scratches and stuff from wheeling. I help my buddy, got a tree limb scrap all the along his CJ7, we sanded down the area of the scrap, taped it all off and sprayed. Real easy. Took us maybe 2 hours start to finish.

JeepNub I Havnt done it myself, but i know guys who have, and they seem satisfied with it. With what he just said too though, Herculine is a cheaper option, if you plan on driving this thing at the beach/lake/river with wet sandy feet, its pretty much tough sandpaper Bring flip-flops

Cj7otr I have my keeper CJ rhino lined on the inside and I love it. I hurculined the inside of another CJ and wasn't that impressed, it was like sandpaper. My son skinned his knee just getting in the back. But, it was much cheaper than the rhino option.

Herculiner Question

I was going to herculine the inside of my 64 CJ-5 and started thinking about just doing everything inside and out. There are a few spots outside that needs a little work so I thought I may just do it while I'm at it. Has anyone else done this, and what does the finished product look like? Would doing the outside be just a waste of time and money?
