|simonclay||Wow. I've been there before. Stay positive.|
They will probably total it.....
Ill be looking to buy it back from the insurance, and eithre part it out, or patch it and sell it, swapping my goodies onto another YJ.
|simonclay||Holy shit! Is the other persons insurance covering it?|
|Today 03:20 PM|
|2xs||Just got the estimate, $7k!|
|simonclay||Wow, that absolutely sucks! Keep us updated on the damage. This isn't the first thread I've seen where a jeep was in an accident and the other vehicle was worse off. Goes to show that metal beats plastic any day|
|Today 02:55 PM|
|2xs||Here is where the tub is tweaked.|
On my way in to work this morning, got rear ended by a dumb $#!+ that was texting...
Ill be looking for a new Jeep soon as the tub is warbed below the front of the doors.
Ill post more pics later, got an estimate on the way, and its currntly at the exhaust shop while Im at work making sure its driveable (alignment and repairing the tailpipe).
Last pic is the dumba$$ that hit me...
Ok, im post 141 I attached 2 pics of my Alternator setup with an aftermarket A/C system, I had previously removed all the A/C except for the compressor, and only left the compressor so there was something to turn my alternator.
I just got, and installed a O.E. bracket so I can install the Alternator in the stock location.
Last Monday on my way home from work, it threw a belt, actually took out ALL my belts, and I have finally gotten tired of it as it was NOT the first time.
Here is how it sits now, with some random pics throughout the process, and yes, I painted it body color, but scratched the crap out of it installing the alternator.... Oops...

Ordered my Barnes 3" drop skid:
Jeep YJ 3" Drop Skid Plate
I would have gone with the 2" drop, but with the NV3550 ill need the room, and no, I cant install a body lift, im at the limits of my garage now....
This 3" is the same drop as the stock skid, so im not gaining any clearance, but I am gaining a nice spot for rocks to slide off.....

Looking for a stock alternator bracket, threw a belt off this mess and im tired of it.
I think I need:
BRACKET, BRACKET, Alternator. 42,56,63 or 78 Amp. 1990 JEEP WRANGLER # 33001658, J3224476, J3227417

|11-30-2013 09:46 PM|
BAH! Asshat sold it after agreeing to trade me.
|11-29-2013 05:06 PM|
Im scheming what to do with this 89 YJ, so far, if the body is decent, and after/also swapping over my hard top, doors, CB, Stereo, lift, tires & wheels, SYE and drive shaft, and axles (to retain the 4:10 gear ratio).
Installing the NV3550, and 8.8 into it.
Then installing the Howell TBI injection system with the Borla 17062 header.
The wheels are spinning, and there's still 2 days till I see it...

Ok, night pics!
For before pics, just go out and look at your un-modded gauges!
And YES, the dimmer still works! Ill never use it but it does dim the dash lights....

Hardest part was the Speedo cable, had to disconect it to pull the speedo out far enough to access the bulbs.
Something I dont see on the how to threads, then you pull out the Tach and Speedo, there is tape covering the plugs, just pull the tape off, replace the bulbs, and verify they work.
here I had one not work, so I flipped it around and it worked fine!
replace the tape, and re-install the unit.
|11-20-2013 06:42 PM|

I really am impressed with the Rotopax setup, my only gripe (would happen with any composite/plastic fuel container), is the amount it swells in the heat, makes it seem like its loosening up after ambient temps go back down.
|10-17-2013 08:20 PM|
|simonclay||Is that a rotopax can mount? If so do you like that product? I'm interested in them and want some peoples opinions that already have them|
|10-17-2013 08:02 PM|
|2xs||Almost done, just need a little paint, and SWR calibrate.|
