sledn8r Attachment 148807,Attachment 148808,Attachment 148809Here is my box. Ammo cans with marine grade speakers.I then used smaller cans for the rear speakers. The console is cool as the top can be put on and locked if needed.I have also now added a CB to the box since these pictures were taken.

Cj7otr, I like the looks of that! I think I want the speakers behind me but I'm not sure. and a console mounted head unit would be nice I'll have to look at them. This won't see any mud it's a DD and hopefully a moab trip someday. but may see a surprise rain storm or two.

JeepNub Ive seen the Ipod/Amp setup and it sounds like multiple dying cats that have vocal chords that were pulled too tight :l Your better off making your own box like you said, and then putting marine speakers in if you plan to be going through much mud/water

That's always a possibility. What size speakers fit in the dash? I only see one place in mine for a speaker. I need them to be pretty loud when running without a top and I'm half deaf! I thought about make a stereo in a custom box that bolted down head unit amp speakers and antenna all in one package. also thought about about a boom box with a power adapter.

Tunes for my CJ

Now that my CJ is here I'm trying to do a good minimally invasive sound system without blowing the budget. I found one plan that used an Ipod, and a small amp that looked like you could do it for $200. or so. I would like to not cut up the dash. I thought I'd go with marine speakers and just put then on the rear inner fenders. If I do cut the dash have any off you mounted a modern single DIN unit and did you need additional mounts? and ideas? pictures?
