|jeeperman||Randy's Ring and Pinion is a good online/mail order company. I have heard nothing but good things about their service. They sell Superior and Yukon gears which are a quality part too... When I did mine, I did some research and found a good "rear end" place, someone that specializes in just axles and gears locally and took my Jeep to them. They did both axles for ~$1000 with parts and labor. I would reccomend this route as setting up gears can be tricky. You could also look for a local 4x4 shop, usually they do a lot of gear swaps.|

|Steve97TJ||thanks....what are some good companies that i could get 4.56 gears and how much will they run me? i thought that they were the same thing just checking up|

Yes when someone refers to gears or ring and pinion they are speaking of the same thing. The pinion attaches to the yoke/driveshaft (for an easy picture in your head). Then the pinions rests on the ring gear that is attached to the carrier that has the axle shafts in each side of it.
If you are running 33's with your 4 cyl. and aren't planning on going any bigger then you can run 4.56 gearing to bring your power/acceleration back to stock.

i have a 97 tj 4-banger 5 speed, and i need power. ive heard of people putting gears in it to make it have better power. are gears and ring and pinion the same thing? if not what is it and where could i get gears to run either 33's or 32's and maintain a daily driver? thanks
