Knups I found a decent path to drive on in Mayfield, NY, which is about 10 min north of Amsterdam (about 45 minutes from Albany for me)

Tolmantown Road is a logging road that goes through a mountain, it starts out as a bumpy dirt road but seems to get rougher the further you go. On top of that there are a bunch of trails that branch off of it that look really gnarly.

joegreen Hello, I don't mean to butt in but this thread peaked my interest. I do not own a jeep but I recently bought a 1978 chevrolet k20 and i am looking to do some mild offroading. I went mudding with my friend once but it started to get a little boring driving around in circles plus my truck has an all wheel drive transfer case so i could not really have the mud fun a 2 wheel drive can. Anyway I use this truck as a daily driver and it is 100% stock. I am located in red hook ny 12571. I don't have anybody to go offroading with nor do I know any places local to go. I am looking for somewhere local and someone to possibly go with for some fun and in case i get stuck or break something. Thank you.

Evildriver Those are roads, in NY unless it's privately owned no more off-roading, you can thank idiots years ago for lying to the dec in court to get motor vehicles banned from the land, meanwhile the one motor use that was doing what they were bitching about was allowed to remain as long as snow was covering the land....
We need to revolt and remove even with extreme prejudice every person holding office and dismantle the corrupt dec that does no REAL world testing and just makes up unlawful land use rules.

Knups I'm fairly new to New York so I don't know any spots...and I've only had a jeep for a few months. I figured the best way to find trails that aren't well known would to go on Google maps satelittle view and scrub around by hand. I came across this, it looks pretty cool but I have no idea what it's actually like on the ground. Just thought I would share. It seems to be a paved road that suddenly ends and turns into a trail, you can barely see it. I dunno, maybe its a gem you guys could go check out! I might go scout it out next week.
