willybTJ My neighbor had the exact same issue. He had just purchased the bull bar for his stock bumper and couldn't get the winch to work with.

His answer....new bumper.

Fordguy81 The holes in your grill guard are for lights, not a winch. IF you were to find one to fit in there and it didn't rip the guard all to pieces just riding down the road, it most certainly would with the first slight pull on anything. I would suggest taking it off and using the mounting plate referred to above, then find another guard to use later. If you just have to have a guard then list that thing on Craig's list or eBay and buy a bumper with winch mount and guard built together. Just my .02

Jerry Bransford I don't believe a winch and that Manik can coexist. I'd have no problem losing that Manik to mount a winch.

lukelauritzen Can the bull bars be put back on afterwards, or is it impossible to have both? What about a product like this?

X2. Looks like the bull bar section can be unbolted. The winch plate will bolt to the frame where your tow hooks are and to the front bolts of your sway bar .

How can I get a winch on this bumper?

Hey all!

Newbie here . . . just picked up a 2005 Wrangler X a couple of weeks ago, and the wife and I are absolutely loving it so far. With that being said, I was hoping some of you might be able to help me figure out how to get a winch on this thing!

The Jeep came with a Manik front bumper/grille guard. It's my understanding Manik is now out of business. On the front of the bumper is a nice, flat area with two bolt holes that I assumed were for a winch, so I ordered one in a Rugged Ridge 8,500lb. Unfortunately, I assumed it would fit in this area only to find out the winch was about two inches too wide. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do with this space? There are two pictures of the bumper/grille guard below. It measures about 19" wide, and the two bolt holes are about 7 3/4" apart. Or perhaps this area of the bumper is for something else? Any information would be GREATLY appreciated!
