I agree with your Rock Krawler comment. High quality, great service and upgradable all of there other kits. Now on the flip side I had an 08 and put the Teraflex BB on it and hated it. If you go Teraflex go with the coil lifts. Also agree woth ypu tire / wheel comment... Dead on!

pasteris71 Look into the Rubicon Express lifts. Have a 3.5" on my 2011 JKU and love it. Mine is also a dd so I only went with 33" tires. Will be stepping up to 35" tires soon. Performance wise it rides great! Gas wise not too bad. Do it right the first time!

RubiconRich It's not just about tires.

Tippittrg With a spacer kit the ride will not change and you'll get about the same amount of flex. You could also get an upgradable lift and go bigger later down the road.

440SixPack Damooch - I was sworn to secrecy by the land owner. Sorry man. But as many here would say, joining a club is a great idea.

Tippittrg - Its a Sport, I'm primarily doing light-moderate wheeling now, but I plan to ease into the harder stuff too. Makes sense about more weight, more gas etc. Will the spacer kit allow for flex off road without rubbing? I saw that AEV also makes a 2" spacer kit. I just want to make sure that I do not regret not going high enough, you know? Thanks for the info guys. very helpful.

Tippittrg Sport, Sahara or Rubicon? What kind of wheeling do you do? What is your budget? How much do you drive day to day? Bigger tires, bigger gas bill. More weight, more gas. Daystar makes a 1 3/4" spacer kit which will fit 33s. Pavement ends makes a bumper that allows use of the factory fogs and has front license plate mounts for half the cost of the other brands. You can also order a winch mounting plate for it. As far as winches just about anything on the market will be a good choice. The Smittybilt xrc with synthetic line would be my first choice, the Quadratec would be second.

JK upgrade suggestions?

Hey gang,

Just picked up my new JK back in December, and I promised myself that I was going to drive it though the Summer to really get a feel for how I want to upgrade it….welp after 4 weeks of nice weather, and being out on the trails every weekend….that idea has gone right out the half-door’s. I have officially been bitten….didn’t even make it through the Spring season.

That being said, since this is my main mode of transportation so I cannot go too crazy with it. I am looking for ANY and all suggestions, for upgrades for hitting the easy to moderate level trails.

This is what I am thinking, again, I am a TOTAL newby so please hit me up with any suggestions you might have:

2-2.5 inch lift < I hear good things about SkyJacker any others?
33x12.5’s < Can these be mounted to 17 x 8.5’s? Thoughts on backspacing?
Winch/winch kit/bumper < I’ve heard nothing but great things about WARN, any other suggestions?
Skid plate > worth it? I’m assuming the answer is yes.

Is there anything else I should be considering?

Lastly…I know myself well enough to know that I do not have the patience (and frankly, know-how) to install the lift kit, and I do not want to rush it. Can you guys recommend any good shops in Central(ish) MA that would be a good place to go to have it installed? Is there a price range I should have in mind for the install?
