Understood. But you never know when you might want to carry 2 kayaks. Or maybe a nice canoe someday... right?

Then again... if it's cheap enough maybe that's the way to go and upgrade later if ever needed.

nicolas-eric the chrome lightbar i had before was very thin.
the new lightbar is better. IMO it is strong enough for 1-2 kayaks.

True, but is the light rack tubing heavy gauge enough to support a couple hundred pounds? I would expect that since it is only intended to support some lights that it isn't. Worth considering anyway. Find out what tubing the light bars are made from (size and gauge).

jpdocdave i don't know about tj's, but just about every light rack that goes on will cause the windshield frame to rust. if you have to drill into the body anywhere, make sure you seal it very well, don't just drill and bolt.

how sturdy are these light racks???

I am rigging up a kayak rack.. I am building the back by myself but I am going to buy a light rack for the front end and rig up the kayak holder to it instead of dropping over $200 on a tacky front end kayak rack.

My question is to anyone how has seen these racks or who has them. Are these racks sturdy enough to hold an extra 40lbs in wind and resistance?

Thanks for the much needed help!!
