Ibuildembig Actually it works well, we use it everyday

lindel WD-40 will work fine. Contact cleaner (aka electronic cleaner) will flush out grease/oil but isn't effective against water.

Ibuildembig Id use electronic cleaner instead, or at the very least after using WD40.

WD-40 was specifically (!) made for this purpose... Water Displacement... and it works well at that. Engineers at General Dynamics here in San Diego developed it to help get rid of morning dew that was wreaking havoc with their electronic missile circuits. It turned out to be so good that two of the developing engineers left General Dynamics to form WD-40 after buying the rights to manufacture it from GD. The WD-40 name came from the 40th formula attempt for a water displacement product finally being what they wanted. It's a crappy lubricant, it's an even crappier penetrant, but it's superb at chasing moisture out of low voltage electronic circuits.

Climb59 Would not use wd 40. Radio shack has a spray on electronic cleaner ( trichlorol base)

You undoubtedly just have some moisture hanging up in a few areas that shouldn't be there, compounded very likely by mud trapping the moisture so it can't readily evaporate.

I'd take it to a coin-op carwash and give it a THOROUGH rinsing. The main purpose of that is to get rid of all the mud and dirt that traps moisture. Then start removing every connector you can and rinse it out with WD-40 which will chase the moisture out. Shake the excess WD-40 out before reconnecting the connector.

One thing our Jeeps aren't designed for is deep water so I'd be more cautious in the future, don't believe the occasional Jeep ads on TV showing our Jeeps driving through deep water. Especially since water can pretty easily find its way into our unsealed transmissions, axles, and transfer cases since many model years have simple button vents which let water in.
