LilYeller I run my 12k on a raised winch plate. no worries at all, you will likely never pull near 10-12k anyways. Seeing as how thats the rated line pull at the first wind (idk proper terminology) you would need to stretch your full length of about 90ft of cable to get near that 12k pull. even then you have to have one helluva stuck jeep to use the full 12k of pull. Bottom line, get the 12k with a raised plate if thats what you lke and use it to your hearts content.

Heres your 12k on a raised Smittybilt plate:

Never had an issue with it and dont ever expect one.

That's only 1/2 of the equasion. Figure that your TJ only weighs 4000lbs so you should be good. Make sure you run all grade 8 or better hardwear.

Boston_Bruins30 Too late for the synthetic rope. Already ordered the cable.

Forward I have the 10k and love it. If the weight is the same or real close I would do it. I also recommend the synth rope.

XJ Knight It wont

Boston_Bruins30 Ok cool so the extra 2k of pull won't hurt anything then

Almost ever winch made is bolted down using 4 bolts, and usually the same sized bolts. The Jeep frame is a boxed design which is stronger than most other trucks on the road, so it should handle a winch just fine as long as the winch/bumper/brackets are all attached correctly.

necromancer_tat I run a Milemarker 12k winch on my TJ because I had it left over from a f350 build I sold. I haven't ever had any problems running it, and it has pulled me out, and several of my friends out, and worked like a champ every time.

Boston_Bruins30 I think the 10 and 12 are the same motor and everything the 12 just has different gears

LilYeller For $40... yea go ahead and do it. these things are heavy tho, might want to ask the weight difference between the 10k and 12k if that matters to you. I have a 12k and it will get me out of anything I get myself into, and is good enough to get almost anyone else out too.
