|SmugglersBlues||I agree Vroooo, but those sound so much more expensive|

"Junkyard" is such a harsh term.
I prefer...."parts warehouse".
Or...."Automotive recycling center".

|SmugglersBlues||It all depends on where you are as to whether or not they let you "go hunting". There are a few left here in Mass but not sure if they have any Wranglers. I personally love going into the junk yards and seeing all of the vehicles. They all have a story and sometimes you can find a good score for cheap money.|

Pick a Parts are up here in Washington as well. The pickin's are slim though on Jeep parts.

"Pick-a-part" is a region NW Oregon chain that seems to work for many customers.
Craigs List & ebay seem to have replace some of the old-style junk yard parts supply.

Use your Google or a search engine..... "Jeep Salvage" or 'Used Jeep Parts" , there are Salvagers that do only Jeeps, some only do old Bronco's.... What ever...
I think I would be very careful removing Lift kits or other susp. parts from a Wrecked Vehicle. Skid plates and some other parts may be OK....

|Schwoogies||Not sure where everyone is from, but in PA there is a jeep junk yard, yes it is full of just jeeps. Nothing from the newer years but I have plucked some older parts for my TJ over the years. It is hit or miss, and they will not search for you most of the time. So it is pretty much go hunting for what you need. You can google it for address, can't remember the name but i googled jeep junkyard and it comes up.|

|Emaske||Yea I know in Alabama they are pretty good about holding stuff for you if you ask them to, but I'm in NC for school now so I don't know how they are up here|
|06-25-2012 11:55 AM|
|Miguzi||I went to one like a week ago... hoping to see if I could find replacement parts for my TJ. Out of the few hundred vehicles in there, only 1 wrangler. But already stripped of everything.|

we have a lot of yards in michigan and yes, you can pick them.
but finding a jeep is like finding a needle in a haystack. They'll be stripped before they hit the yard most the time. Your best off calling local junkyards and asking them to put you on a list incase they ever get a jeep to call you.
or yeah, use the internet now...

|Emaske||Yea I kinda figured that the junkyards may have stopped their old ways due to the fact that they can make way mire money parting stuff out on their own. Thanks for the feedback though|

this old days are long gone. Newer vehicles never make it to the yard. They are parted out right away. Places that seel used parts have guys in there stripping vehicles as soon as they arrive. The yards themselves usually strip the good stuff and sell it right there. The rest you do yourself after paying a nominal fee to gain entrance.
Forget about "finding mods" for a JK.

|NFRs2000NYC||Mods? No. Spare parts? Maybe.|
|06-25-2012 11:41 AM|
|Emaske||To be honest I'm not looking for anything specific. I'm just wondering if there is a cheaper way to find mods other than paying retail. Plus I like doing stuff like that instead of being stuck on a computer searching all day.|

Yes, you go find the part you need and pull it youself and they sell it to you, or some junkyards pull all the salvagable parts themselves and sell them to you. What are you looking for specifically?
Look in your yellowpages, old school i know, and find local junkyards, call and see if they have any 2007-2012 Jeep Wranglers.
|06-25-2012 11:28 AM|
There really is no need because of the net.
You can find almost any part by searching or asking.

I have heard countless stories from my dad about how back in his days he used to go to junkyards and get spare parts for his Ford Bronco. Does anyone know if they still allow this at most junkyards and have any of y'all done this?
