jeepers29 I live in central Texas and have ot used the air on my jeep in over a year. Get yourself a spiderweb shade for up top and take your doors off. You'll be just fine, besides it makes you enjoy the a/c that much more when you get where you are going. By the way, welcome to the forum and to Texas.

ygohome I have no AC either in my 2004. I don't drive it every day. When I do though I either remove the doors or the whole top. I keep something overhead though for shade.

I still sweat profusely, but it's a jeep and I believe that the people I'm around have become accustom to my stink. Its a jeep thing

FYI, you can get everything you need to install the AC yourself from If nothing else, it gives you some prices to compare against if you have a shop do the work for you.

DFW6ER Welcome to the forum. When I first moved here right out of college I was broke and drove a black mustang with maroon interior, no tint and a clogging coolant system full of rust. I had to drive with the windows down and heat blowing full blast to keep the car from overheating while I got enough money to fix I feel for you. If you're in the DFW area you could go topless all summer...we likely won't get any appreciable rain for the next 60 days or so.

C.L. The best i can suggest is to drop the top and use a spiderweb shade to keep the sun off.

No Air in Texas

I just moved here from Wisconsin. My TJ was great for up north, but not practical for living in Texas. No Air Conditioning. I have a 2004 TJ, 4cylinder with a soft top. I have been going topless to get some air, but I don't think I can drive fast enough to stay cool! Does anyone have any advice? I found a garage that will install a/c for $2,200+. Help!
