with 4.88s/33s/42RLE, I can get anywhere between 13-18mpg...and the majority of the difference depends on driving style.
if you drive like an old lady, keep it at or under 60mph and keep the RPMs low (under 2500), accelerate slowly, hypermile when coming to a stop, coast downhill, etc...the mileage isn't too bad. with bigger tires, proper speedo calibration is key.

|Zurn||'04 4.0 auto. 31s. My mileage is so spastic. The fuel here right now is all over the charts. I drove out to the badlands a couple weekends ago. got crap mileage running ethanol, 14 highway. Refueled with non-ethanol. Then went back over the same road this weekend to meet my mom for lunch. I hit 19 mpg. With the ethanol I noticed that the tranny had to down shift out of OD a lot pulling hills. With the straight gas it did not. Getting harder and harder around here to find straight gas.|

06 4.0 with auto trans and 31" tires. Completely stock. I drive lightly on the skinny pedal. 14 city - 19 hwy. As best I can determine.

|exavid||You're doing better than me, my 2.5 with 31s and a five speed is producing a solid 18.5mpg in town. Not enough freeway driving or a long enough trip to get a handle on that.|
|06-28-2012 01:05 AM|
|JDT||2005 2.4L 6 speed and 31's. I averaged 21 on a recent trip from Kentucky to myrtle beach, Sc. Around town I get 19-20.|

|KenG||I envy all of you. 99 4l, 3 spd auto, 3.73 gears, 32x11.5 tires. I just got back from Colorado, Estes park area. My first tank from my house to hays ks, a wopping 12.3. In estes park I was able to 17.8 on a tank. Higher altitude = better mileage. I also am easy on it. I'm getting 12 in town. I run 3200 rpms at 75 mph.|

|pcwolf||2006 TJ Rubicon, some lift but still 31" tires. I average 15+ overall, got 21.5 on a long distance run with a heavy trailer keeping it under 60MPH. I track my fuelups on "Fuelly.com" and you can compare with other Wranglers although it doesn't give any mod info|

|yzinger02||Based on your guys' results that's why I was surprised to get almost 21 mpg! I'm pretty easy on the accelerator and do a pretty even mix of city and highway driving.|
|06-27-2012 10:03 PM|
|Daddy_O||2006 LJ, bone stock. I just eked out 18 mpg on a recent, mostly highway trip keeping it at around 65 mph. Around town, it's 14-15 though. Oh, it's the 6-speed.|

|jasongind||I just did my calculation this morning. I'm running 4.0, 5-speed manual, 4:10's and 35's. I got 16.1 mpg's mostly I-70 into the mountains and back. All in all I'm not complaining one bit. in order to keep 65 mph up the steep hills I was 3rd gear at 3,750 rpm's. Oh yeah, it was 100+ degrees out too.|
|06-27-2012 07:33 PM|
|InvertChaos||I get ~15mpg around town but pulled 19.15mpg on the interstate. That with the 4.0L, 5 speed, 33" tires, 4.56 gears, and armor.|

What are you guys getting??? Post your results and setup like engine/tranny/tires/gearing. I was surprised to find out that I managed to average 20.8 mpg in my 4.0 auto with 30s. Anyone else getting this kind of mileage?
