91IslanderYellow I got her for 6k. That's probably about 2k more than she would have been worth to anyone else. But, the guy had the motor and tranny rebuilt, a new radiator, and some other pretty pricey things done in the recent past. Besides, I would have paid that if she had been sittin on blocks somewhere with no motor!

Hocke230 Lovelee - if you see a good YJ AC set ... let me know

LoveLEE143 Just an FYI I can also buy donor cars from auction. I see allot of wranglers with good interior and body parts from the insurance auctions.

After all....Jeeps are too honery the "die" peacefully.
I'm hoping free to play wherever. But realilty is probably in a junk yard.

Probably not as much as your jeep is!

91IslanderYellow It's actually looking better already. The seats under the covers looked better than the covers did. The console's gotta go. I'm hoping to find an OEM console in pretty good shape. I tore out the indoor/outdoor carpet that was in the back. She just needs some TLC. Ordered new seat belts today. I think I'm gonna knock out the interior first as well as have all the fluids changed and standard tune up done. I'm grinnin ear to ear even if she is rough.

PLHamp Wow and even has AC! Check the frame for rust, lots of guys in the Carolinas use thiers on the beach. I wonder what the seats look like under the covers.

91IslanderYellow Here are two of em. The paint is completely hammered. The body has quite a few bumps an bruises. The interior looks like somebody drove it through a dust storm with the top off. Again, just gives me a little more work to do. On a side note the motor an tranny seem solid. The seller had them both rebuilt a few years back. That will save me some serious cash.

BadMojo11 I'm jealous. I regretted selling my first jeep for YEARS!! I still miss it but I recently bought another and am already head over heels for her Great job finding it!

91IslanderYellow Thanks LoveLEE. Got my Jeep on Saturday. It's pretty rough around the edges but hey, what should I expect for 21 years old. Just gives me something to wrench on a little bit.

This is all pretty exciting to me!!! Assuming the deal goes through, can anyone recommend any good shipping companies for transport? I've read some reviews on Magic Carpet Auto Transport. Anyone had experience? Looking like around 750-$1,000 to ship.
PM me the two zip codes, and your contact information. I am a licensed transportation broker. I can ship for very reasonable prices.

I used Lightning Auto Transport to get my jeep shipped from VA to AL......i can't say enough good things about the service, communication, and the actual delivery driver....they were excellent, and i hauled cars for about 15 years so i know good service when i see it....they're out of Boca Raton, FL and ask to talk to Brendan.....very nice guy
And congratulations on finding your Baby!!!......

That's a true statement. I am work with DCI and run plates and vins all the time. If someone does that for personal reason they risk A LOT of trouble with the SBI...

vincemar you can get the last owners adress from the dmv for like 5 bucks and send them a letter
02-01-2012 11:13 PM
91IslanderYellow That would be great!
I tracked it by Carfax using the VIN. It lists the different car auctions that it went through, when I was registered as a dealer vehicle, and it shows each year that the owner renews the license. Unfortunately for me it gives zero personal information to track though. I can see why it doesn't, but I'm surprised with all the information on the web this kind of stuff is actually hard to come by. Either that or I'm just not good enough with a computer...
I'll post something up on the NC forum tomorrow.

rebelBullDawg325 let me see what i can do for an NC cop. got alot of family up there. but yes check the local nc page.

if you dont mind my asking, how did you track it. i've got the original paperwork for my jeep and know who the previous 2 owners are, but know nothing btwn those 2 guys and the original owner. it was apparently purchased by someone in the military and delivered to him brand new over seas. i'd like to know my jeeps story!

91IslanderYellow I explored that option. Without getting into too much detail, from what I can tell the VIN would have to be run by the DMV or an officer in N. Carolina. Unfortunately I don't have any connections there.
02-01-2012 06:33 PM
tnjeeprider Do you know any really cool cops? If so, you might get them to run the vin for you and see who owns it.

91IslanderYellow I do like the idea of running an ad. I think I'll let this post sit for a week or two and see if it can do any work for me and then pursue the ad. If anyone knows of any other N. Caroliana Off-Road forums or Jeep forums that might help get the word out please let me know. I'm sure there can't be too many 91 Yellow automatic Islanders in the Concord area. If someone can successfully get me in contact with the owner of this jeep I'll shoot you $100 through Paypal. When I say successfully I mean I'll have to match the VIN with the current owner.
01-31-2012 09:16 PM
tnjeeprider Run an add in the Concord newspaper. You can run an add for $20.00 or less. Put in the add that you are trying to find the Jeep you used to own, maybe add a picture. Maybe you will get lucky.
01-31-2012 06:05 PM
91IslanderYellow Man tell me about it. I was 20 and had no money and needed something that ran up and down the interstate better. My Dad told me I'd regret it but what's a poor college kid to do? I'm holding out for my old one until I've exhausted all my options though.

yjmark rule # 1 never sell your jeep cuz u always want it back! sure u know that already. i also found out the hard way. i let everyone talk me into getting rid of it and nobody telling me to keep it. i got lucky after five years i found one in better shape and lower miles everything stock and untouched. so call it luck or a blessing. how ever u wont find one on craigs junk so look at auto trader in ur area. u may have to pay a little more than what you sold it for . usually better jeeps on auto trader.
