Ibuildembig x2 would be way too much work to make one bolt in
07-03-2012 12:07 PM
darkproximity It would take a bit of work to make a tj cage fit, and when you can pick up the family cage on craigslist for 50-100 bucks, why would you modify a tj cage
07-03-2012 12:05 PM
darkproximity Yeah wouldn't make sense to throw a tj cage into a yj when yjs came with the same style cage and bolt in easily
07-03-2012 12:05 PM
Charlie.B.7 1987..........Why did didnt make sense. I think they got the bars from a newer model yj. Its Ill i can think of, hubby seems to agree.
07-03-2012 12:04 PM
Ibuildembig That will work, its a YJ cage

darkproximity What year is your Jeep

Charlie.B.7 Okay so now Im really confused ( nothing new there) I went on an online chat with morris 4x4 this is the link the sales rep gave me. Bestop Sport Bar Cover Black Denim 80009-15

He said bestop calls them sports bars..........what the heck? the product clearly states YJ 92-95. I give up for today! Dark let me know if you think these might work. Thank You! That must be what year my bars are?? Does that sound right?

I wonder if there is a difference in the diameter of the tubing on a TJ vs YJ.
That might be one way to tell
Its not a difference in tubing size, just shapes and mounts

jkaufman_95 I think your current jeep has the family bar, your previous had the sport bar, the family provides rear oc protection. The sport is made for front only,
Ps- it has torx bolts and idk anyone in their right mind that would use those except for Chrysler, so that points towards it being stock
07-03-2012 10:50 AM
Kate If you look near the windshield, you can see where it's been welded or something

But in the area over the shoulder it appears to be missing some of the holes that my TJ bar has for things like door surrounds.
07-03-2012 10:48 AM
Kate See... THAT looks like what I've seen described as a "sport"
The "family" is designed to offer more protection for the back seat.

The only reason I question the one in the earlier post is that it really looks like the bar has been modded where it attaches to the windshield.

Someone who owns a YJ would likely know a lot more than I do about this.. I'd listen to them instead of me if I were you.

Charlie.B.7 @ kate Im looking on ebay and also 4 wheel parts ( company is here in Albuquerque).Rampage Products Roll Bar Padding Kits - Roll Bar Pad - Roll Cages & Related Parts - Body Parts, Roll Cages & Frames - by 4 Wheel Parts

@ Dark You think so? My last YJ had a different looking bar, perhaps it wasnt stock. Heres a pic of my previous Jeep. The bars had a slant.
07-03-2012 10:36 AM
darkproximity Looks like a stock yj roll bar
07-03-2012 10:34 AM
Kate Well now, that's a good question.

Looks like mine did when it was factory. I have no idea what the difference would be.
Where are you looking at padding? Maybe I can help you pick the fly specks out of the pepper.

I'm going to guess that the one you have is a "family" because it's square in the back.
But upon closer inspection I see that it's missing the rear seatbelt (shoulder) bolt holes.

Thanks Kate!

Do you think its the family style or sport?
07-03-2012 10:25 AM
Kate Definitely looks like a TJ cage that's been modded at the front to fit.

Roll bar pics

Hopefully these will help, looks like the seatbelts attach to it. It looks like they might be from different donor bars. the windshield bars are black and the back roll bars are greenish.

Charlie.B.7 Thank you J! Ill take some more pics this afternoon. =o)
07-02-2012 10:48 AM
jkaufman_95 Those kinda do look tj ish but Take some more pictures, post up where the front seatbelts go, the rear seatbelts should be (by that bolt) and where they tie into the frame/ tub

Can anyone help Identify this model?

I am trying to order some roll bar pads, but it seems that my orginal YJ bars were replaced. Seems to be newer bars, but want to make sure when I order that the padding will fit. I enclosed a pic, hope someone knows what model it is. ( Could be a TJ family style roll bar?????? does that look right) Thanks
