Basically, stages are like levels of performance. Generally, stage 1 would be CAI, exhaust, reflash
Stage 2 would start swapping parts (forged pistons, rods, new cams) to better and stronger pieces
Stage 3 is forced induction, either supercharged or turbocharged, along with more of those better and stronger bits.
You'll also see 1 being cosmetic, then 2 starting performance. But generally, that's what stages are.

95jeepmasacre when you buy a custom head gasket let me know where you got it. That way I don't have to pay a design and tool up charge. The stock or Felpro or Victor gaskets are only good for 4 Psi boost. I got an assortment of blown gaskets on my wall.

Cowboy Steve The company I got the build from said to add it for lubrication

Slater451 I thought zinc additives were only needed in engines that were originally designed to run leaded gas. You should need any unless you replaced the hardened valves made to run unleaded with softer ones....

Cowboy Steve Hey guys I my block is ready for paint. No turbo kit yet. And you guys know of any good zinc additives?

Cowboy Steve 505 performance did the whole setup, I have been doing a lot of research and asking a lot of questions. They sell a reflashing for it, but I am going to get it tuned by a professional, I'm a back yard mechanic, so tuning ain't my thing

sduncan Post the dyno sheets when you're done...A 300hp 2.5 will be a finicky, hard to tune, unreliable, little buzz bomb.

Good luck with your project but I think you could spend your $$ on a more proven setup if you're looking to get 300hp in a TJ.

Cowboy Steve Ok its been awhile since I've been on the forum, I just need a lil more cash for the stage 3 stroker kit and the turbo kit, it'll have 10psi of boost, and I know it will have around 300hp,

Cowboy Steve I willing to do it all, i just need a little more time and money for everything that I want to do, I'll keep everyone posted

Well people have spent more to make theirs a one of a kind so if you have the money more power to ya.. It does sound cool, a turbo 4cyl and all. Keep us posted

Ibuildembig The only way to get 300 out of something that small is to do a turbo and all aftermarket parts in the shorblock and head. Even then, the 2.5's have a rod problem that will show its nasty head eventually. There are enough ways to make your jeep different without throwing money away honestly.

The other things you have to consider are tuning and cash. Your gonna have more than alot of stroker v8's that make twice that amount of power and have longevity. Are you gonna be able to tune it?

Cowboy Steve Stage 3 performance and stage 2 meaning different performance parts like rocker arms, pistons, rods, head work, for any part of the powertrain to make it better with more power and more torque, rebuilding the whole motor, making it "worked" there is a stage 3 and 2 stroker kit sold for the 2.5 at

http://www.shop.505performance.com/c...c?categoryId=4

And they do sell a turbo kit for it which I am thinking about buying for the jeep

00tj2 Sounds like you will be wasting a lot of money on a 2.5. Unless stage 2 or 3 involves a turbo, and even then it sounds like a waist.

Also what was said before, what is a stage 2 or 3?

sporty95f150 what do you mean stage 2 or 3?

TJ 2.5L stage 3.... Maybe

I definitely plan on building my Jeep. But I have a dilemma, I want to do stage 2 or 3 to my motor and trans, but I don't want to keep rebuilding it if I build it up with stage 3 performance. So the question is, how often will I be rebuilding the motor and trans if I go stage 3? I won't be beating it every time I drive it, just on occasion when I feel like showing it off.
