|yjwrangler||??? like where the tranny input goes into the motor? i have a pilot bearing, its a 93 4.0 out of a cherokee(i have a 90 wrangler) it uses roller bearings, not sure about a brass bushing|

I had a 4.2 and it had a brass bushing installed for a pilot bushing. I swapped in a 98 4.0 and the same size bushing fit in the motor. So nothing changed in my case.
Mine have both used a bushing not a bearing. I am not sure on other years. HTH

pilot bushing in new motor...
hey guys, got a quick question for you...
i ordered a replacement motor from 4wd, and it came in, and i took out my old motor, and everything was going great. but then...
as i started to put parts on the new motor (water pump, oil pump, etc.), i went to put in a pilot bushing (i guess it's the main one, that sits in/on the crank shaft in the rear of the motor towards the transmission), and the bushing was snug in the old one (as it should be). I used a puller on it, and was able to pull it perfectly, i was good up until this point.
when i went to put the bushing/bearing (whatever you want to call it) into the new motor, the space where it should sit was too large. in other words, on the new motor, the pilot bushing was able to just go in and out/ move around in there, which is wrong. i (as well as my father) was under the impression it needed to be driven in so it is a snug fit and not loose (which makes sense to me)
now here's my question. do you guys know if there is a bushing or something that goes in the new motor to close up some of the space for the pilot bearing? did jeep make two seperate motors (one for the standard and one for the auto)? if so, could i have gotten the one for the auto? i was under the impression they only made one motor... also, have any of you had experience with ATK motors? did you have this problem?
any/all info is greatly appreciated. thanks guys!
