Just-Jimmy http://www.offroaders.com/tech/jeep/...on-factory.htmThis link will help you identify your Tranny. The AX-15 started in mid year 1989. When you open the link, find the two tranny's and click on the name to see pics and identifying specs. Keep your fingers crossed that you have the AX15!

traffcon2121 Is one more dominate than the other or is it luck of the draw?

RedWrangler You can also check the Vehicle code plate. I think on the 87-89 it's on the driver's side radiator support. The transmission code should be on the bottom left of the plate.

Fweaky The Aisin AX-5 has an ID code stamped next to the drain plug. The Peugeot BA 10/5 has a ID plate on the passenger side on the front of the case.

Transmission identification?

I have a 1989 Wrangler 4.2l Base/SE Manual 5 spd. The slave cylinder went out and I need to know which kind to get. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
