you just shouldknow the limits with the dana30 in the front end and the limitations you will need to put in place if you get a new r&P and a combination of lockers installed.

the second you get wheel spin with 513's and your arb air lockers actuated in your front end and the moment you get traction at a higher RPM the sooner you will hear that bang sound.
you really think that tall of a gear with 35s in florida in an auto? i mean some day i'd like to retire in the rockies... but that could be a JK or two away... here in the mountains of florida... i wonder, i'll be at such a high rpm it's going to kill me.

RWJ I just put 5.13 in when I put on rcv shafts and arb lockers front and back. I used them in mammoth and I couldn't be happier. I am running 37 mtr's.

Aynway are you a 2012 or prior model JK? If prior to 2012 I would suggest 5.13's. 4.56 are a waste and IMO 4.88's are a little under geared for 35's. If you are a 2012 then 4.88's would be good, even 4.56's on a manual trans.

Anyway if you are not seeing any rocks in your off road adventures then I would say save the money on the lockers. Maybe get Detroit Truetracs F/R or Selectable front and Truetrac rear.

Dan, don't you think that's a little tall for a DD also? I'm in Florida in a 2DR JK... and I've been thinking that 4.88 is sort of as big a gear as I should go.

Probably won't do the regear in Sep as I'll only be home a couple weeks, and I can live with the "underpowered" rig until I get home in Dec, giving me time to save some extra money's to put towards it.

Kevin, the 35s on your 2012 with 3.21s should be tolerable. I have 3.73 on my auto 08 with 35s and I tolerate it. I am, however, going to install 5.13 soon. I would consider a 2012 3.21 w/ 35s like my 3.73 2008 w/ 35s. As to what to consider your re gear to, I would say 4.88 since you are an automatic.

It is smart to install lockers the same time you are paying re gear labor but for F/R selectable, youll be spending about another $1K or 2 depending on the brand. You can go with auto lockers, lunchboxes or LSDs for cheaper than selectable but you have to weigh the pros and cons of the auto lockers on a DD rig.

Personally I am going with Detroit Truetrac (LSD) rear and Eaton E Locker up front (selectable). Most reviews say that JKs BLD and the Truetrac are a match made in heaven. Plus I like to do snow a lot too, so all around lockers wont do it for me, nor will auto lockers. I think the Truetrac will get me up and over almost everything, especially in 4WD and I will have the option of locking my front up if I need more traction.

DJ_B1R In for replies myself. I have 3.21 and just put my 3" lift on. My wheels and tires will be in tomorrow. I think I'll do 4.56 myself, but guess while things are open lockers can't hurt (cept my wallet..lol)

tabber02 this ought to be interesting.. i've spoken to a couple guys and the majority seem to agree with lockers up front and leaving the LSD in the rear...

i'm sort of in your shoes. 3.73 auto, already running 35s, but getting to the point where gears and axles are coming soon..
