KSigma_TJ in addition i want to add that i do have a K&N filter, and aFe silver bullet TB spacer, my engine started reving up a few hundred rpm by itself before i got the after market parts. my jeep also only has 24K miles on it. over time it started reving all the way up to 2200 rpm and sticking and once in a while it would do the opposite and drop to 400 rpm nearly turning off the engine; other times it would act completely normal. this all happened while it was idling (mines manual so the trans wasn't engaged).
i got tired of it burning thru all my gas so i checked the computer codes and replaced the bad sensor, my jeeps never ran as good as it does now.

KSigma_TJ its the TB positioning sensor, i just replaced mine. every jeep OEM one it trash, go buy a BSM one for like $35 bucks and it will work better than new.

This is a good point. The torque spec for the throttle body bolts is 11 Nm (100 INCH-LBS...that's 8 ft-lbs). So you need an inch-lb torque wrench, otherwise you'll be taking a trip to the junkyard to find a new intake manifold.

I've had my throttle body off a few times, and the aluminum isn't an issue as long as you're careful how much grunt you apply to the bolts.

So if I spray the throttle body cleaner into it what's the best way to go about it and will it also clean out the IAC or do I need something different for that?

Jerry Bransford One thing about removing the TB every time you want to clean it, its mounting bolts are only threaded into the aluminum intake manifold so the threads should be treated with great care. Personally, I would only remove the TB when I absolutely needed to but not just for routine TB cleaning.

Mctim35 I would remove it. It's just 4 bolts and unclipping a few sensors. It makes it a lot easier. Plus you can take out the IAC and give that a proper cleaning.

I'll probably try it without removing it first to see if it works if not I'll remove it and if that doesn't work I'll look into replacing the idle air controller. Thanks for the suggestions and help. ::

No CAI and as far as I've had it I never cleaned out the throttle body. Is it something I can do myself?

when's the last time you cleaned out the throttle body and IAC? you wouldn't happen to have an aftermarket open element style "cold air intake" or K&N would you?

Anyones rmps shoot up?

Mine shoot up when I put it in park or neutral and I wanna know if this is normal also when I'm in idle it'll idle at around 700 then fluctuate between that and 1000 what can this be?
