Billett I'm actually going to have to bail this weekend. Might be able to make one in mid October.

Aeneas the two sites I always camp at are Batona and Bodine Field

im actually camping Friday night (at Batona site) and wheeling Saturday if you want to come down a day early!

You can book online and if you print out the confirmation you don't have to hit the ranger station before hand

Have a good time

Heres the pet site: NJDEP-Parks and Forests

Main camping site page:

Billett Since we are meeting up with some of the guys from North Jersey on Sunday, my wife and I were considering just camping at Wharton Saturday night. Do you guys have any suggestions on the campground? We will be bringing a small dog with us.
09-16-2014 11:49 AM
Billett We did end up going this past Sunday. Pretty great for a first trip and I'm very excited to get further into "the lifestyle" haha pics and videos to come.

Aeneas all good man, and yea I saw that about the 28th, I have hockey at 1 which pretty much ruins my Sunday
09-11-2014 10:44 AM
Billett Whenever I make it out there I definitely won't go alone. At the moment the tires on my jeep are stock size wrangler SR-A's, (might even be original tires just on different rims...), and they are getting low on tread so I plan on avoiding most puddles. When I do go the Tacoma will definitely be coming with me.

And I did see that there were no alcoholic beverages allowed, I said that more as a joke. Although in all honesty I'll probably try to bring something along just in case the need arises and we stop to picnic or something haha.

I'll keep you posted on the 27th, but just a heads up some of the North Jersey guys are planning a trip to Wharton on the 28th. No wine festival that day!
09-11-2014 09:47 AM
Aeneas I can go this weekend but go and have fun, just take your time going through puddles, a lot of them are deeper than you think. If you see a go around then take it. Also go with someone else so you don't wind up posing in the recovery thread

ps Wharton is a state forest and no drinking allowed, you do you though, Id be lying if I said I didn't bring beer when I camp out there

lmk about the 27th

Billett Yeah I've been meaning to pick up some D-rings but didn't get around to it yet. The rest of the stuff you mention is all stuff I have I'll just have to get it together in one toolbox for the trip.

I may actually end up heading out there this weekend just to poke around and check some things out. My wife mentioned a Wine festival she wants to go to on the 27th and I forgot about it. I'm hoping I can convince her to just bring some wine out to the park...

Aeneas Evil I haven't seen you on this forum yet!! my Jeepforum name is breehill, we wheeled a few times together!

Billet- that is a great start! I would suggest to get 2 3/4 D rings

For your first time you are set, but this is some stuff I always have just ot give you an idea:
-CB (need to get one I use walkies)
- Tool set ( I have a 30$ one from HF I just leave in the back of the jeep) a breaker bar
- Misc fluids, I have coolant/oil/power steering fluid/break fluid/ wd40/ break cleaner
- Misc "stuff" some twine, zip ties, ducktape

meeting place will be the ranger station off 206 by the pic a lilly

evilwhynot I would say meet at the ranger station on 206

Billett The 27th sounds like a plan to me. If you don't mind I have a couple of ?s before we meet up.

The jeep is a 2012 JKU Sport we bought with what looks like a small suspension lift, (4"s maybe), and stock size aftermarket rims. I have a recovery strap, fire extinguisher, and first aid kit in the car, but is there anything else I should pick up before I come out?

The vehicle coming with me will be a stock Tacoma TRD and maybe a few others if I can convince them. Where would you like to meet up?

Aeneas im free Saturday the 27th if you guys want to do a run then. I know most of the forest and have a winch
09-04-2014 07:12 PM
BigPhil Set a day, and I'll see what I can do.

Yup bad weekend, they bring in folks on overtime, he was probably tired and aggravated before you showed up.
One thing, once you start paying fines, they win. So get legal fenders on quick as you can.

Lineman827 just not my day i guess. today im smokin ribs & loin.. stayin outta trouble ....lol
05-27-2012 09:41 AM
srad600 Ive been out with many guys with NO fenders. I regularly go out with 2 XJs with none.
05-27-2012 09:31 AM
Lineman827 like i said, i know im on the wrong side of the rule... thats why as soon as he pulled out of the hidin spot ( cuttin my wife off by the way, she had to lock up her brakes to not t-bone him @10mph) i pulled right over and put my hands up on the cage so he could clearly see me. i gave him respect, he was still a tool, but didnt give me a tix, just attitude

thnx 4 the compliment on my jeep. i obviously need to add a few things, like flares lmao
05-27-2012 09:20 AM
Rayko Nice jeep. No offense but I'm surprised you didn't get pulled over on the hway, on the way to Wharton. Man, you have no coverage over your tires.
05-27-2012 08:35 AM
Lineman827 heres a better pic of my front fenders.

Lineman827 ok, makes sense, theyre pretty flat lmao. prob gonna leave them on the front. i saw a set of bushwhackers.on quadratec last night i like, but damn, dont like the $429 price tag. they are flat black, but look like they will.cover most of my tires. i think i just ran into a d bag assertin his authority on a holiday wknd

Flat fenders. Pockets are the big bushwacker type that you and I really need. I have flats like you. At least it looks like that from your AVI pic.
