|iinSaNe CaRNaGe||yeah its my first jeep, sorry for the late reply, i was thinking something that could increase performance im veeeery satisfied with the current preformance, im just like a crack head and need more :P but i was think more hp and maybe better fuel consumpyion, i read a lot about tuners and that sounds like the ideal thing, and cold air intakes can suck up a lot of dirt or so i read so i probably wont go with that, but having the six speed with the penastar 3.6 L is a lot of preformance as it is but more is always better. You essentially have four choices. Let's break em down:
Cold air intake/exhaust mods, etc: If you wanna try em, go right ahead. I have yet to read of anything from this category that increased Jeep power on a real dyno. Butt dyno is a different story, of course. The world is full of suckers. Thank god. Keeps me entertained.
Tuners (i.e. Superchips, Hypertech, etc): They help some. Plus they perform some other handy functions, such as calibrating your speedo after you change tire sizes, and so on. Unfortunately, the tuner mfrs haven't yet cracked the rolling codes Chrysler started using with the '11 models, so the tuners won't help with your '11+ Wrangler. Millions of $$, just waiting for somebody to take it.
Regearing: This is the big one, your best bet for maximizing your Jeep's performance at a fairly reasonable price...said price being +/– $1,500. This works especially well with the 3.8L engine Jeeps, which are woefully undergeared from the factory. On a '12+, it's really only worthwhile if you NEED to regear; that is, you throw 35" tires on a Jeep with a 3.21 gear ratio...in that case, regearing can restore your rpm-to-speed ratio so that your Jeep will once again be able to use high gear on the freeway. If done properly.
Supercharger or Hemi: Beaucoup bucks. Might as well just keep the Jeep stock, and buy a Ferrari. Chicks dig Ferraris, don't they?
All this is just my 2 pennies, btw. You want a CAI...go for it.

|lee indy||thats why i asked if this was your first jeep? go grab a 2000 tj se with a 4 banger and an automatic and put a few miles on it then come back. and there are more than 100 threads on this sight alone where i and several others have ripped apart cold air intakes. go find them. im not going to get into this again.|

|jmm0122||The real question is what is wrong with the performance of a stock 2012? Its not a race car so why treat it as such? Cheap and performance do not go together either, so if you want performance you will have to drop some cash.|

I was also looking at cold air intakes. A friend told me they help with engine efficiency and change how the engine sounds.
What makes them a marketing scheme? Do they not do what they are supposed to?

Performance increase on 2012 JK
What would be the best way to increase performance on my 2012 2dr jk, on a budget,i was thinking maybe cold air intake but i read that they are a bad choice because they can suck up a lot of dirt and water? What would you recommend the best way to increase performance is on a budget?
