One step further in addition to Jerry. Take your VIN # to a Jeep dealer or call them(parts dept).My local dealer gave me a print out of my pedigree including the diff.ratio from the factory.I'm assuming your wondering that as well?

GrnTJ Well if your buddies rear axle looks smaller than yours than its extremely likely you have a D44. Dead give away is the threaded filler plug as mentioned before.

Jerry Bransford The standard D35c has perfectly oval differential cover with a black plastic snap-in cover for the lubricant fill hole located on the differential cover.

The optional stronger Dana 44 has differential cover that is more angular and nearly stop-sign shaped. It has a threaded steel bolt that seals the lubricant fill hole on the differential cover.

How can i find out what rear end is in my 99 Sport? I looked at a buddies and his rear end looks ALOT smaller than mine and mine has much more balls than his. We both have the 4.0 I6. His is completely stock, bought it directly from the previous owner.

I bought it used and am trying to get in touch with the previous owner.
